Money Money Money in a rich man’s world as a famous band once put it!
Arjen Robben was being lined up last night to continue the conveyor belt of top stars rolling into Manchester City – with Real Madrid looking to strike a deal for the Dutch winger.
With City closing in on Barcelona striker Samuel Eto’o and hoping to announce the capture of free agent Carlos Tevez in the next week, £21million-rated Robben, 25, is next on the Mark Hughes hit list.
He has spent two seasons at The Bernabeu following his £25m move from Chelsea but the ‘Galacticos’ policy of returning president Florentino Perez is likely to see him become a victim of the ruthless pursuit of success at Madrid. Despite some dazzling displays by Robben, it seems Madrid are prepared to sacrifice the flying Dutchman as they embark on another huge re-build.

If Man City continue to buy good players, as they have already with Roque Santa Cruz and Gareth Barry, then there is every chance that they will have a good chance of moving towards the top four, although this won’t happen overnight and anyone expecting such a display next season may be jumping the gun.
Mark Hughes is beginning to get close to some real ‘Galatico’ level signings with Samuel Eto’o and Carlos Tevez reportedly close to joining the club. Arjen Robben is another top level player who has suffered somewhat at Real Madrid and may well look forward to jumping ship before the La Liga side injects even more top notch names in their already bulging squad.
The former Chelsea man was a top class player during his Premier League spell and one can only hope that the only irritating facet of his play, his diving, has been removed!
