Liverpool Offered £60m for Trio by Spanish Giants!

The Rumour
Sport says Real are ready to offer £60 million for midfield pair Javier Mascherano and Xabi Alonso, along with fullback Alvaro Arbeloa.
However, the offer still falls short of Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez’s valuation, who rates Mascherano and Xabi at £35 million each and Arbeloa at £8 million.
Benitez has already rejected a separate £3 million offer from Real for Arbeloa this week.

The Analysis
What is it with Real Madrid? Are they attempting to buy three separate world class elevens and then enter them all into La Liga in the hope they can topple Barcelona? Rafa won’t want to lose any of the three that Florentino Perez is trying to subtly to purchase and therefore this valuation will not make a damn bit of business, the only worry for the Liverpool boss is whether any of the trio really wants to leave.
Alvaro Arbeloa will probably leave and comments from Xabi Alonso this week have confused the issue somewhat. Javier Mascherano’s agent seems ready to do the deal so that he can get his percentage so in many ways the boss needs to make it clear to these three that they need to pledge their future at Anfield and if not Benitez will then have to get as much cash from the sales as possible, in much the same way Sir Alex did with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Apologeese Steven Constable, I mis-read the title, as did Ash T and Rob I beleive. £60m? Not enough for those three??!!! This transfer saga needs to be dealt with immediately Rafa!! I mean I think I speak for all of us when we would like too see a conclusion to this saga whatever the outcome. I think Arbeloa is already out the door, and as for Alonso and Masch that will depend on the players. If the three players are to be sold for £60m approx I would like too see Real Madrid add Wesley Sneijder, Arjen Robben and Klass-Jan Huntelaar added to the deal. Then with the £60m plus other transfer funds we would have to sign someone like Lorik Cana, Felipe Melo, Yaya Toure etc as a replacement for Masch and then I would like us to bid for Micah Richards, Mark Noble, Adam Johnson and Joe Cole. We would then have an awesome young but exp squad.
My transfer suggestions may be far fetched I will be the first to accept but I think if something like this happened we would be brilliant. However, i would prefer Alonso and Masch to stay as they make up a formidable partnership in our midfield and then their is the question of how long it will take for the new players to adapt and thrive. What do you think guys?

Somehow if Rafa doesn’t want to sell I think both players won’t give us any problems if they want to play in finals that is and will have to perform to do so

Keep Masherano. swap Alonso and Arbeloa for sneider or Van dar vart and Huntellar + 10 million. Add extra cash and bring in Silva or Mata. Bring in Adam Johnson and sell lucas. Give Ryan Babel another chance.

I think we may lose Mascherano through pressure from his wife. He has said all along that he loves it at the club but his wife has not settled in England and hates it. I also think Alonso is playing the media with his comments in some small show of retaliation to the way Rafa treated him last year when he tried to sign Gareth Barry. I do however believe Alonso will stay. If we should lose Mascherano I think we should try to sign Essien to replace him. Essien is a similar player who has Premiership experience and his flexibility would appeal to Rafa.

Selling arbeloa puts us back to the 1 RB situation again (forget degan made of glass) I would hope we keep Arbeloa. Alonso can’t be sold if we are even thinking about going for the prem. The exact same with masherano.

sell Alonso and Arbeloa …there is much better players out there than Arbeloa…dont know what all the fuss is about …if Mascherano says he wants out ,well let him go .35mill simple as that same with Alonso ..we could get 80 mill for these players..plus the yanks have sold some of their other businesses ,so the finances would be looking good for the future ,we could could bring in 4 or 5 top quality players too….if they want out get rid of them..Alonso aint that great anyways ..hardly ever scores and can be pretty sloppy at timers,iv seen him lose the ball alot in important games,Gerrard makes him look good alot of the time..its always gerrard anyways…..id rather lorik cana, stephen defour or Veloso someone who can graft in the midfield but carrys more of a goals threat…Arteta of Everton is probably more of a danger than alonso..and he can pass,take free kicks etc etc ..

Finally, a wise head. Downright embarrased that the donkey kongs above could not even understand the title. I agree Alonso has been sloppy, but what a guy to have to get players sent off. Check that statistic man. With Masch, we do not lose games. We may not win, but we difinitely do not lose. With Alonso, we have a better chance of winning. Gerrard is no longer keen on the heavy load of a end-to-end midfielder and u can see that in his movement. Arby can go. Carra did not @#$#% for nothing. We have incredible weakness in our flank backs and Johnson is a great buy. the left still needs propping up and I think Insua (among the 3) is a better long-term bet. We need to dump Lucas and for all his work rate, Kuyt just does not cut it as a right wing. he gets into space, then goes backwards…maybe Johnson will be an outlet. Lets see. Whats with you guys abt the Spanish thing. Be more productive. One can’t blame Alonso for the frustration he felt last season. I mean, Barry for Alonso? Like comparing Lucas to Masch! We could have wrapped up no 19 this season if we had not sold Crouch, Bellamy. These guys were options in case plan A does not work. Instead, we put in Lucas and Babel to try and change a game. Alonso’s problems with Rafa stems from Rafa insisting Alonso be at the pitch when his (Alonso’s) wife/GF was due to give birth. For crying out loud, there is life outside football and Rafa should know that…but than again, he does not even know how to celebrate a goal….he must be the most “sad” manager in the league. Always jotting notes. Where is the gut feeling, the intuition, the romance of the game in Rafa that was there in Paisley, Shankly, even hard nosed Souness??? Rafa should realise that players have feelings. Celebrate with them and have a heart. Thats the true Liverpool way. But hey, what do I know. I have only supported the Reds since 30 years ago. the liverpool way? celeberating there performance as never been the iverpool way,. so much so that after a succesful league campaign ronnie moran famously placed a cardboard box of league medals on the floor and asked the palyers to take one if they thought they deserved it.Liverpool as always been a club that always remains professional. infact the last manager i can remeber that celeberated with the players was roy evans and as we know he didnt really perform well as he became to close to the players. leave rafa he is the boss as shouls act and remain as one.

Not likely, given their contracts. Would be a silly move too as we are on the cusp of a great run of premier league wins…..and champions medals. I think our defence is now one of the strongest (fix that LB though). We have a super super midfield and forward spine. I can’t wait as the rest of the big 4 are not having it easy replacing their stars while we are (provided above does not happen to due a paricular managers ego) ready and raring to go….damn, still more than a month to go.
