Manchester United Set to Complete £38m Starlet Striker Move!

The Rumour
Lyon attacking midfielder Miralem Pjanic has today revealed that his Lyon team-mate, Karim Benzema, is close to making a move to Manchester United.
Lyon’s manager today claimed that no formal bids have been made for the player although the club would listen to offers.
“Benzema is nearly gone to Old Trafford,” said Pjanic. “The English club are willing to pay €45 million for him and it is just a question of the day when he will move to England. He does not have anything against going to Manchester. Our side will be reinforced by Lisandro Lopez, the Argentine forward from Porto.”

The Analysis
Having secured the signing of Wigan man Valencia, now Ferguson is moving on with transfer plans and seems very intent on signing Frenchman Karim Benzema, but would such a move be a good one? Considering how problematic the front line selection became last term when Wayne Rooney, Carlos Tevez and Dimitar Berbatov had to fight for two spots out of three, with the England man having on occasion to play out wide left, surely signing the Lyon man would cause an even bigger headache?
Obviously the club could well do with another striker but perhaps they would be better off bringing in a front man who can at least play in other positions instead of adding more competition for premium places. Benzema is an incredible talent and a player who would surely not take to kindly to warming the bench but surely that would be a potential fate.
In the age of 60 game seasons I understand the need for strength in depth but at the same time no top notch player is happy at being out of the first team, Carlos Tevez being a case in point. Would Sir Alex be better off bringing in a ‘lesser’ player who wouldn’t mind being called upon sparingly as Berbs and Rooney occupy the first two slots.
The Likelihood
Benzema to Man United: Could well happen.
