Michael Owen: Cheer up mate, you’ve just signed on for another two years of top flight football!

Michael Owen has completed his move to Manchester United after the free agent signed a two-year deal with the club.
The 29-year-old forward spent the day at United’s Carrington training complex as the terms of his free transfer move were thrashed out.

Now that this deal has been completed I find it hard to decide if it’s a good bit of business by Sir Alex or whether this is the first sign of the onset of dementia for the aging boss. Michael Owen used to be one of the most feared strikers on the planet, then times passed, and some more time passed and he then became a player who cost Newcastle a hell of a lot of money for essentially spending 80% of the time with an ice pack strapped to one part of his body or another.

Still he is only 29, although in Michael Owen terms that could be 39 seeing as he has been around the houses more times than my postman and may well have burnt out his career just before he left for Real Madrid all those years ago.

Anyone want to wager just how many games he will figure in during those two years, I’ll open the bidding with 9 (Carling Cup ties mostly). But seriously, good luck to the lad, it seems those brochures he produced did the trick!
