Wenger close to filling midfield void!
Felipe Melo alongside former Arsenal favourite Gilberto Silva
Arsenal will have to offer full-back Emmanuel Eboue as part of any deal to sign Fiorentina midfielder Felipe Melo, according to the Italian club.
Brazilian Melo, 25, has signed a one-year contract extension with Fiorentina that includes a £21m release clause.
“Arsenal is the only club to have come close to the sum established by the release clause,” read a club statement.

This is indeed very good news for Gunners fans and if this is an official club statement then it definitely seems a distinct possibility that this will come to fruition. Emmanuel Eboue has had a pretty awful season but to his credit he did battle back from some rough treatment from the fans, which he deserved, to finish the season pretty well.
Felipe Melo could be the perfect midfield partner for Cesc Fabgregas, who has been demanding the club sign an experienced defensive midfielder and the Brazilian seems in many ways an ideal fit.
