Arsenal Set for Shocking £22m Playmaker Bid

The Rumour
Barcelona are eyeing Arsenal star Andrey Arshavin.
Encouraged by Arshavin’s comments last week that he dreams of playing for Barca, the European champs are now considering a bid for the Russia international.
El Mundo Deportivo says Barca are turning to Arshavin after learning that Bayern Munich ace Franck Ribery only will consider a move to Real Madrid.

The Analysis
If Barcelona are trying to outdo Spanish rivals Real Madrid in their quest to become the club who seeks to tap up a record number of players in a calendar year then they are going the right way about it. In much the same way as Real Madrid uses The Marca to test the waters and make their feelings about a prospective signing well known Barca uses the likes of El Mundo to do likewise, it’s a nasty trick and one that surely must be against UEFA guidelines.
Andrei Arshavin hasn’t helped matters of course, by stating quite publicly that he would love to play for Barcelona, albeit in an interview that was quoted out of context, Wenger will not for one second entertain such notions but don’t expect that to stop Pepe Guardiola’s side from continuing the same tactic with regards to their main Emirates target Cesc Fabregas.
The Nou Camp already plays host to three former Gunners, are they trying to create some kind of reunion committee!
