Mr. Abramovich is itching to capture a big fish this summer!
The Rumour
Chelsea are increasingly confident that they have a serious chance of signing Franck Ribery.
On the day that Yuri Zhirkov completed his medical ahead of his £18 million move from CSKA Moscow, Ribery’s club, Bayern Munich, are said to have set a price of €80 million (£69 million) and a deadline of July 16 for any deal to be completed.
However Chelsea have brushed aside such demands and, having tabled a bid in excess of £40 million already for the France international, are waiting to see whether Real Madrid make a move or back off as they pursue other targets, most notably Liverpool’s Xabi Alonso.

The Analysis
This report some what contradicts other stories doing the rounds, named that Franck has stated that only a move to Real Madrid would make him consider leaving Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich. The Spanish side seem to have money to burn but Ribery has still not made his expected move and either thats because the Bernabeu side is rethinking its move or they haven’t bid enough.
£45m is the figure Chelsea are believed to have tabled for the French International, and that’s a hefty chunk of change and I would be surprised if the former Marseille man was still playing for the German outfit in a months time.
He could be a really top signing for either team, can you imagine what kind of attacking line up Madrid would have with Franck as part of it! Roman Abramovich is keen to sign a big name and there are not many left who haven’t already joined Real or Man City!
