Sir Alex looks to fantastic battler to beef up midfield.
The Rumour
Manchester United have been encouraged in their pursuit of Barcelona midfielder Yaya Toure.
The Mirror says Barcelona are willing to sell Toure to United for £20m – but only if they succeed in landing Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is in the market for a holding midfielder with major doubts over whether Owen Hargreaves will make a full recovery following surgery on both knees.

The Analysis
This could prove to be an inspired purchase by Sir Alex. With Hargreaves out and Anderson seemingly dipping in form towards the end of the season and Paul Scholes getting on a bit, Yaya Toure could well fit in nicely at Old Trafford.
He was a rock when played at centre back in the Champions League final and will have no doubt impressed Ferguson but if he does put a bid in, expect long term admirers Arsenal to consider doing likewise.
Barcelona are going full pelt in their pursuit of Javier Mascherano and Liverpool will be hoping that the Argentine doesn’t push for the move to the Nou Camp but if such a move does take place then United will benefit greatly.
The Likelihood
Toure to Man United: Dependent on other factors but could well happen.
