Tottenham to Fight it Out for £5m Centre Back

The Rumour
TOTTENHAM are ready to slug it out with Sunderland for Manchester City centre-back Richard Dunne.
The £5million-rated Irishman looked certain to head for the Stadium of Light.
But Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has asked to be kept informed of the situation.
City chief Mark Hughes is reluctant to sanction Dunne’s departure until he lands at least one of his centre-back targets.
He has not given up on tempting John Terry to Manchester despite Chelsea’s insistence their captain is staying. And Hughes is also hopeful of bagging Everton’s Joleon Lescott. Dunne, 29, came close to joining Redknapp a year ago when he was at Portsmouth.
The player was on the point of agreeing the move until City tempted him to stay with a £55,000-a-week contract.

The Analysis
Harry Redknapp is keen to add some stability to his defence and has outlined the need for an experienced back up for the first choice partnership of Ledley King and Jonathan Woodgate and with that in mind he has singled out Richard Dunne as a player he would desperately like to sign.
This could be good timing for the Irish international as Man City will almost certainly bring in some huge signings to bolster their back line with targets a plenty being mentioned from the unlikely, John Terry, to the very plausible, Joleon Lescott, to the downright ugly, Lucio!
Richard Dunne may opt for a move to Sunderland where he would be first choice and that could be the only stumbling block against a move to White Hart Lane, unless he predicts, accurately, that Ledley’s knees will fall off in a matter of months!
The Likelihood
Dunne to Spurs: 50/50
