Liverpool In Shock £44m Ribery Bid: Skybet Slashes Odds on Move to Anfield!
by Steven Constable on July 10th, 2009 355 words | 124 commentsAs leading Bookmaker dramatically cuts odds on move, Is Lightning about to strike twice!
The Rumour
Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery has been repeatedly linked with a move away from Bavaria this summer, with Real Madrid his own stated preferred destination, though a clutch of Europe’s biggest clubs have been reportedly interested at one stage or another.
Liverpool, until now, have not been one of those clubs, but British bookmaker Skybet, the company who dramatically slashed their odds on Michael Owen joining Manchester United the day before the striker signed for the Old Trafford outfit, have announced a similar cut on the odds of Ribery moving to Anfield.
The bookmakers have cut the odds on a Mersey move for the Frenchman from 66/1 to 8/13 on, after receiving a flurry of bets on the move taking place.
“Every price we have put up has been taken on Ribery moving to Liverpool, which has left us stumped as in recent weeks he has been liked with every other club but the Reds!” Skybet’s Dale Tempest told sports betting website oddspreview.com.

The Analysis
Well we know what happened the last time Skybet slashed their odds on a surprising move, so maybe this is about to happen for a second time this month? One thing is for sure he won’t be cheap with a fee in the region of £44m needed to persuade Bayern Munich to cash in on the French international.
It would be the coup of the summer for the Anfield side given that the likes of Real Madrid, Man United and Chelsea have all pushed hard for the talented playmaker. The former Marseille man may be keen on a move to the Premier League and seems destined to leave the Bundesliga this summer.
There is no doubting how much of an impact such a signing could have on the Merseyside club’s chances of pushing for the Premier League title, and perhaps more importantly such a move would be big kick in then teeth to those other English clubs who desperately wanted his signature.

You stupid fucks! Shut up this is a football site, and if you dont wanna talk about this topic then piss off and stop boring everyone with your useless dire views!!
Personally, although this would be the greatest signing of the summer if Rafa could pull it off, i cannot in all seriousness see this realistically happen unfortunately. Ribery has stated that Real is his prefered destination, and even if a move to Anfield was wanted by Franck we do not have the funds to make this happen
I hope i am proven wrong because Ribery would add REAL quality to our side but i think most logical LIVERPOOL supporters would agree that we cannot afford his talents. Now anyone else gunna comment? I mean constructive comments.
Donavan Ried - July 10th, 2009 at 11:25 am
This is BS Franck Ribery already said that he is signing for Real Madrid come on Steven Constable not only is this wrong but about a week behind…

I can’t see how this article is true and suppect that it has only been written to entertain the manly Liverpool fans who rush to be on here on a daily basis.
Ribery to Anfield – I can’t see it some how.
For one, it’s been reported he only wants to join Real Madrid and I can’t see Liverpool with their limited funds being able to match RM, Manu’s or Chelseas bid – we simply don’t have the fund to compete.
United Gossip - July 10th, 2009 at 11:32 am
Club call is running the following story:
Man Utd want to offer £18m plus Dimitar Berbatov for Atletico Madrid striker Sergio Aguero, according to Spanish reports.
This would probably be about a £48m offer for Aguero! WOW?
What do you think? Discuss

Dont know hopefully the yanks have realised they need to spend some of there own dollar!!!
Steve McMahon - July 10th, 2009 at 11:43 am
I was listening to Rafa’s Sky interview last night and his comments about Alonso and Masch staying were a little strange as I dont remember his saying that they were not leaving or that he didnt want them to leave only that they are on good contracts and that they owe LFC.
To me that was a little odd, but not if deal’s are currently been brokered, and if this was the case then the answer of where would the money come from just might be answered.
Although personally I couldnt see Rafa spending 44 mill on any one player, I think he is too cagey for that.
Masch or Alonso or both to leave Anfield, seem’s more realistic as the days go by, especiall as we get near the 15th or 18th of July for Alonso’s possible RM move.
Paddy - July 10th, 2009 at 11:45 am
It won’t happen but Real will not buy him, they said themselves so there is a slight chance but i still can’t see him coming!!!!!!!!Where is the 44 million coming from?????????

Donavan Ried - July 10th, 2009 at 11:55 am
Warrenisaredfan – July 10th, 2009 at 11:20 am ….. It’s fun before the transfer window opened it was rumored that we had £30m to spend in this window and Rafa was claiming that he would make two quailty signings. We spent £17.5m on Glen Johnson (£12.5m as Pompey owed us £7m) and any monies from sales of players. that would leave us with about £17.5-£20m …. I do not really think that if someone like Ribery wanted to come to anfield that we could not find the money. What i am now starting to believe it is more the quality of the players that is out there and wish to come to Liverpool that is the problem…. The Ribery’s,Benzema’s and Kaka,s all want to go to Real. …. Maybe Rafa should look at Bastian Schweinsteiger, and Lukas Podolski instead
For gords sake, he's a fully grown man! - July 10th, 2009 at 11:56 am
Steve McMahon – July 10th, 2009 at 11:43 am
“he didnt want them to leave only that they are on good contracts and that they owe LFC.”
I agree Steve, it is a funny way of saying something and probably tells you something is going on with these players.
For what is worth I would say that Rafa is questioning their loyalty to the club and he ould only say that if something has happened. The statement “owe Liverpool” is the most interesting part and implies to me that both of them have told Rafa that their futures lie away from Liverpool. Suspect both have been offered opportunities away from Anfield and they are both considering their options.
Us Liverpool fans can only hope that they choose to stay.
Donavan Ried - July 10th, 2009 at 12:01 pm
Morning Steve McMahon,
Just remembered … Did not Real tell Ribery that they would sign him next season?….
redscrotum - July 10th, 2009 at 12:13 pm
the sale of alonso and arbeloa = 40 = the price of ribery . gerrard to drop back to central mid with the 2 Fs up front. could work?
Warrenisaredfan - July 10th, 2009 at 12:14 pm
Donavan Ried – July 10th, 2009 at 11:55 am…..as usual Donovan I very much respect your analysis of the given topic. I agree that 1 more star player will arrive at the shankley gates sometime soon, but who he is and how good he is I dont know. However your statement: ‘I do not really think that if someone like Ribery wanted to come to anfield that we could not find the money’, how have you come to this conclusion? I agree that we have less debt then other major teams most notably ManUTD and Chelski. Yet our owners are not willing to spend £45+m on 1 player, dont you agree? I personally would welcome Ribery with open arms I think we all would to be honest but we franckly cannot afford him. Furthermore, I think alot of world class players do very much admire Liverpool, most notably the likes of Thierry Henry, Andriy Shevchenco and Lionel MESSI. I know shev and even Henry are well passed their best but they said they would love to have played for ‘pool in their ‘hey day’. Podolski and Schweinsteiger? I admire Podolski, he would give us added quality up front and can also play left wing as we saw with the German national side, not to mention he is Polish so he would fit straight into this country
AS for Schweinsteiger……..I do rate him but he is not X! quality in my eyes. He would make a gr8 super sub (yet again as we see with Germany) but with our limited funds I would not want us to buy him. That’s my view anyway.
PS. Sky sports have suggested that Rafa is keeping tabs on Cambiasso, which can only suggest tht either Masch or Alonso may be on their way………lets hope not.

Rafa tling rubbish when he states that Alonso owe liverpool. This is the same guy that didnt want him and tried to offload him to buy gareth Barry. Now Alos has hada fab season, brken into Spains team he wants him t stay. Add the fact Real come knocking nd Barry money grabed, he is two faced to now state he owes us.
Rafa get a life, or sell him and get Ribery, then all will be forgotton
Warrenisaredfan - July 10th, 2009 at 12:27 pm
‘middle age gent’ alot of star names sit outnof the first freindlies, just look at ‘pool. We never play the likes of Gerrard or Torres on the first freindlies. That’s gennerally up to the younger members of the squad to have some ‘game-time’. So, I dont think it relates to this suggetsion of Ribery ‘……on the way..’. But a valuable comment all the same

Scouse Magic - July 10th, 2009 at 12:48 pm
I wouldn’t actually be too surprised if this comes off!!! The reason i say that is because, i think Rafa is relatively astute when it comes to the better player. I also think with the Yanks having now refinanced, i believe we have quite a bit of money to spend. I’m not saying we are going to buy 7/8 players, because that just won’t happen, but i think there are only a couple of pieces of the jigsaw left to complete and this could be the MAJOR one.
Anonymous - July 10th, 2009 at 1:01 pm
ain’t gonna happen
Anonymous - July 10th, 2009 at 1:43 pm
haven’t got enough money for ribery but what about david silva, valencia need the money and we could get him for around 20 mil which for a quality player is a seriously good deal….what do u think??
TF - July 10th, 2009 at 2:01 pm
im sick to the teeth hearing about masch and xabi rafas right they do owe liverpool if they want to go let them get top dollar now rather then watch their valuess drop next season when they play shit becvause their head has been turned it has been quite around anfield because we have been trying to get players many think are out of our reach but with barry gone mad for the money thats another 12mill in the bank that was spent from last season so add that to the 30mill we had and a few sales to generate more cash ribbery is their for the takeing cambiasso cana and ribbery to the pool i like the sound of that
Lincoln burrows - July 10th, 2009 at 2:11 pm
I think we will sign your mother!!
@REDS, you can be the last but all i know is that i’m the first.
TEDSUZUKI - July 10th, 2009 at 2:14 pm
If Alonso does leave to Real for 40 mill. I guess that means Rafa only have spend a further roughly 5-10 mill to get Ribery. Assuming Ribery does want to come to Anfield.
Donavan Ried - July 10th, 2009 at 2:15 pm
Warrenisaredfan – July 10th, 2009 at 12:14 pm …… with Man Utd in their weakened state (Without Ronaldo and Tevez) , and Chelsea looking like our only real challengers for the title his season, If Rafa was to appoach Gillette and Hicks and tell them that with another £25m he could buy Ribery and that it would almost guarantee us the title and a better chance of winnig the Champions League,FA cup and League Cup thus rising the porfile and value of the club, i believe ( and I stress it is only my belief) that they on this occassion would find it almost impossible to say no….. That plus the money from the shirt sales that would start to follow in straight away …. But hey i could be wrong
Warrenisaredfan - July 10th, 2009 at 2:26 pm
Well Donovan you may just be right (I stress the word ‘may’), so could this be true could the yanks are finally puting money on the table? If so then i think franckly (see what i did their?) ribery WOULD in all seriousness choose us ahead of the mancs and chelski, don’t you think? I know he wants to go to Real but thata was when we were’nt in the running and so if this source is REAL (see what i did their?) then I would be interested to see what he think of a move to the ‘pool?
Otherwise, if we are to sell Alonso and Arb, (and not signing Ribery) then i would make Sneijder and Robben/Huntelaar as part of the deal. ‘Cus i know rafa highly rates Negredo but i think Jan would be KLASS (see what i did their?).
What do you think?
PS. Donovan do YOU think we in all reality CAN sign RIBERY??
Red's Rule - July 10th, 2009 at 2:29 pm
Why Not …. Rafa is a smart chap…. in a offseason which has seen some crazy money changing hands anything is possible. As for everybody on this site saying we have limited funds …. hold on!!! does anybody read the news our US owners have become cash rich after selling shares in Basketball and baseball Teams … 44 million is a lot but it is doable for the right player and FR is that player!!!
Reds Lewis - July 10th, 2009 at 2:30 pm
Afternoon.
I personally think this is a possibility and that Donovan is right, – ribery would generate massive shirt sales which would practically half or at least knock a third off what we pay for him due to generated income from his shirt.

Warrenisaredfan…you need to take a bath…with an electric toaster
Paddy - July 10th, 2009 at 3:04 pm
Well if the Americans did give us the money for Ribery we would almost get that money straight back cuz we WOULD win the League and most likely the Champions League and the amount of money you get for winning them competitions is in the region of like 60-70 million so we would get that money back!!!!!
rickross1001 - July 10th, 2009 at 3:36 pm
I will still prefer sneider or Van dar Vart to replace Alonso. I dont think we need ribery.

JIMMYCARTERWINGWIZARD - July 10th, 2009 at 3:58 pm
Ribery for the REDS….call me pessimstic but surely this is just is smoke on the wate……………………r!
a fantastic player & no doubt would offer us another level…but serioulsy where is the funds for this & one player at that price….RAFA could not be tempted ..could he?
if however Xabi & Masch do leave….then that cash must be given every last penny for RAFA to go out & spend it wisely & on top notch quality…but on one player…dont think so?
has he got the balls to do it…its over to you MIGHTY ONE!
turned over the tv other day to bbc2 sat down I thought I was watching my fave movie COOL RUNNINGS…ten minutes into I realised it was Michael jackson coffin being carried by his BROTHERS….dont you just hate it when that happens?
DM - July 10th, 2009 at 4:06 pm
i actually think we could be in the running for ribery. the silva deal has gone cold and rafa has said he will break the transfer record on a player. also, real madrid havent put a bid in as perhaps liverpool are selling alonso and an agreement was put in place for real 2 back off the bid. im not 100% sure that he will sign but there is no smoke without fire and the odds were slashed on skybet about owen the day before he left newcastle for the scum
kermit - July 10th, 2009 at 5:28 pm
give me ribery over david silva any day of the week
Guillem - July 10th, 2009 at 5:37 pm
As far as buying a guarenteed success I think Ribery is as close as we would get. If Rafa has the money he will bid, no doubt in my mind about that, however the money must come from somewhere ad the sell of one of our star midfielders may have to be considered. Believe me when I say that Ribery is probably the only player I would consider loosing Masch or Alonso for. But if the possability of keeping them and signing Franck materialises then Liverpool will make the step to the next level. He is just what we need, an effective, strong, skillfull, goalscoring winger who would blend with any player on the earth let alone the quality we already have.
I just hate this speculation because it never bloody comes to anything! Lets just hope the super Yanks have found funds and simply said “Hey Raaafa, go and buy that Rie-berry guy from the Munich”
dibbler - July 10th, 2009 at 6:14 pm
If he wants to come to liverpool fc we would find the money simple as that. If you are booking a holiday and you can go to spain for £400 and the travel agent offers you the maldives for £500 you can bet your ass you would find the extra money. same situation same out come!!
Paddy - July 10th, 2009 at 6:55 pm

lol what a load bullshit ribery to liverpool!
1st off he has said it either madrid or nothing, but madrid will be a no go becuase fucking raul has such a big presence at the club they wont bench him, so ribery will not be bought.
2nd bayern are interested in bosingwa so if madrid is a no go chelsea is a possiblity
further liverpool like man dont have the money to buy big, both clubs have made defecits last year eve though man u won EPL arsenal made more money then them last year.
appledave - July 10th, 2009 at 7:18 pm
i agree with donovan reid. schweinsteiger and podolski are class and we should buy them. we should also buy arjen robben.
Charlton - July 10th, 2009 at 7:21 pm
Ribeery would generate a load of shirt sales being a transfer record and all that…..the foundation based upon pretty much all of Real’s transfers. However, I have heard that our very own Paris Hilton lookalike (Voronin) and also Babel could be used as part of the deal. Paris did have a decent season in the Bundesliga so maybe just maybe………
I think he’d be better suited tothe prem then Silva, he is much stronger on the ball, plenty of pace and loves the ball at his feet! Bring it on Rafa

Lads, I’ve seen some of you quoting wikipedia as though its some devine source of truth. Wikipedia is like this site, anyone can post and that includes people like Lincoln burrows!!!
LOL. t’s public editted.
I’ve alway believe that if you want to know if something is true then you either ask the person in question (Do any of you have ribery’s phone number?) or read the BBC website (and not the gossip column).
I know it’s dull and we all are excited about this potential signing, and yes the betting odds thing does make you wonder… but lets all sit down, have a nice cup of tea with a malted milk and wait for the truth.
So please lads, put away the party hats and keep your fingers crossed that this signing happens. But until it does go an have that cup of tea and have a good old fashioned dunk of your malted milk!

RIBÉRY liverpools new number 7!!!!!!
Charlton - July 10th, 2009 at 10:59 pm
It actually does say on Wiki Wiki Pedia that Ribbery has signed for us. Is this is a case of some Scouse craftiness infiltrating the site or could it be true?! I’m not sure I’ll be able to sleep tonight. This would be the signing of the summer, worldwide -forget Ronado and Kaka; the rest of Europe would be really scared of this!
The words missing piece and jigsaw spring to mind.
Bob the Bold Boob - July 10th, 2009 at 11:00 pm
Ash T, Lincoln burrows didn’t write the wiki entry by any chance? He’s got nothing better to do…. or perhaps it was a bookmakers looking to get all those footfans betting on what they think is a “sure” bet.
I think someone, somewhere is making money out of this scam.

Wiki isn’t the devine source of truth – it’s public edited and therefore anyone can write anything on it… and there’s even more incentive to do so if you can make a few quid out of it!!!
Why would Ribery write this – it would be anounced through Bayern and Liverpool!!!
Ash T - July 10th, 2009 at 11:09 pm
i find it funny that the bookiesput us as inside favourites to get ribery and then its on wiki and still every one says no hes defo not coming
even rafa stated that sir alex will be scared when he finds out who we have signed
theres realy got to be come thing going on here that we do not know about
i hope its true
its alot of money and proble could be spent on more than one player to improve our team, but every one complains that we dont sign big and then when we get linked with big signings every one say we can not afford it
this signing would improv liverpool alot, get us lotssss of shirt sales and even prove to people that liverpool so have the money to sign big players
Bob the Bold Boob - July 10th, 2009 at 11:12 pm

If Ribery is coming great, if not lets get the moaners Alonso and Macherano and get replacements in as i want all transfers to come in before pre season….
i think Sniejder, Negredo, Diarra/ toure, heinze, (as back up), possibly Bojan to come in…
sell dossena, lucus, macherano, alonso, arboloa, voronin, degen, itanje, babel
loan out, el zhar and ngog

It looks like some sad twats spent about 6 hours playing aound with this – at one point it even said his current club was Manchester United! And we all know that will never happen!
Sorry to burst your bubble on this lads but this is just a school boy prank…. it makes you laugh here we are moaning that we don’t get user logins and wiki alllows non signed in users to edit their info!!!

great points warrenisafan, really good… if united are a worsewr team a player like ribery could win us the title i think hicks and gillet would dig in deep to get him
Donavan Ried - July 10th, 2009 at 11:35 pm
Warrenisaredfan – July 10th, 2009 at 2:26 pm …… If it was out of Man Utd Chelsea and us, After Man Utd losing Ronaldo and Tevez, Chelsea with a age against most of thier team, Liverpool looks like the team that is going places so if it was out of the three teams He would sign for us… But alas I believe he is bound for Real
“Sneijder and Robben/Huntelaar ” Sneijder and Huntelaar would be great signingAnd yes this should bepart of any deal,…. Not to keen on Robben
johnny barnes - July 10th, 2009 at 11:41 pm
Donovan Reid do you not feel that we are very close to the premiership, i just don’t see Arsenal, Man city, Aston Villa, Spurs really in contension. Chelsea are just not the team they were they ARE aging.. and united i just feel are gonna take a few seasons to get over Ronaldo…. Valencia is a completely different player and won’t score 30 odd goals a season and Owen i feel will play really well at the beginning of the season and then get injured and and will prob then be in and out for the rest…
If we get a little bit of money add some quality, even if alonso and masch go we can replace with van der vaart and toure, or we get a quality striker then gerrard will take alonso’s place. we can win ALOT.
Fred - July 10th, 2009 at 11:42 pm
So a Liverpool fan thinks that out of Chelsea, ManU and Liverpool – Ribery would sign for Liverpool. You should have spoken to Gareth Barry before he decided to join City!!! LOL
Wow, hold the headlines everybody, we’ve got a real mass debater here!!!
Fred - July 10th, 2009 at 11:45 pm
Question: What is Frank Ribery pointing at in the photo?
Answers on a postcard to 34 I don’t give a shit street, Lincoln.
johnny barnes - July 11th, 2009 at 12:08 am
man United: no longer the power house with out Ronaldo.. will miss him, Valencia will prob get 6 goals next season…. replaced tevez who scored some vital goals last season, (and the two seasons he was there united won league twice, european cup, charity cup, fifa club world cup), and replaced by injury prone owen…plus van der saar can’t cut it any more
Chelsea: aging side, un proven manager in the premier ship. No stability in managers since mourinho.
Liverpool: Torres and Gerrard possibly the best strike partnership in the world, have one of the best midfields in the league, have a great spine of players in reina, carra, skrtle, agger, johnson, masch, alonso, gerrard and torres..
now if you were ribery where would you go?????
TO me ribery doesn’t seem a greedy player, i don’t think its about the money with him, if it were i don’t think he would have gone to Bayern… so if he wants to win things the best team, in england would be Liverpool a team on the up
Jed - July 11th, 2009 at 12:19 am
i’m have been on this site for a long time…new username….i dont know if u guys are familiar with a betting sting???
skybet got hurt last week with the odds they were giving for owen to manyoo…a smart punter with a lot of cash would realise this….therefore they back the most unlikey option and bring the price right down…one solid bet would have done this as skybet would have been shitting themselves at the first sign of a bit of specking….this then brings the price of the more likely occurances up eg. bayern, real, chelsea…the punter will now back all three at juicy odds and walk away with a massive profit FACT
cpa1888 - July 11th, 2009 at 12:21 am
the odds were slashed on skybet to generate intrest in the market and get backers onboard.its one of the oldest tricks in the book and happens all the time.

Hi all, i not been around 4 a long time. I and freddie(my goat) went on holiday. I been honking my horn for the signing of johnson. Now we have signed riberry, i will take freddie out and honk my horn all day for the signing of riberry. We have four spaces in my car and i’m inviting my friends dom, paddy and lincoln the bullshitter to join me in this ride so we can honk our horns for the signing of riberry.
Also, i like to buy riberry shirts during sales. Dom pls buy them and send them to me in russia cos i can’t have access to it here in russia. I want to spread them all over my car and drive the whole town as i honk my horn in celebration of riberry signing.

RAFA SAID ‘NO MORE BIG SIGNINGS’
but in the otherhand if alonso and mascherano where to leave would rafa consider it?
DM - July 11th, 2009 at 12:41 pm
i think rafa will buy a 20mil winger, possibly silva/young etc… but he wont spend 45+mil on ribery
Chelsea Rich Boy - July 11th, 2009 at 12:54 pm
you can have Joe cole for 30m!!! hahaha
Dom - July 11th, 2009 at 12:56 pm
Club call has the following story
“Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has ruled out a move for Franck Ribery after revealing he will not be making any ‘big money’ signings.”
Paddy - July 11th, 2009 at 2:32 pm
Jese look at his wikipedia today!!!!!Apparently he will sign on the 21st for 40 million + Voronin!!!!!!!!
Paddy - July 11th, 2009 at 2:50 pm

Donavan Ried - July 11th, 2009 at 3:39 pm
johnny barnes – July 10th, 2009 at 11:41 pm … John i felt that last season we go the second place through defualt. I feel that if everyone was at full strenght teh table would have been as follows 1st Chelsea 2nd Man Utd 3rd Liverpool …. having said this we greatly improved last season and most especailly once we started to play more attacking football( towards the last third of the season). …. Man utd have been greatly weakend by the Lost of Ronaldo and Tevez, and Chelsea have ageing players who are taking longer and longer to get over injuries, plus this is not the Chelsea of 5-6 season back that had real quality sitting on the bench. nor do they have a Manager that can turn games like Jos’e Mourinho…. Although it would be dangerous to discount Man Utd, This should be a two horse war next season. If we can bring in say a quaility striker that can play up front on his own as well as with Torres wwe have a great chance of wining all the domestic silver ware and a great shout at the Champions League

-lfc- – July 11th, 2009 at 10:12 am …..”RAFA SAID ‘NO MORE BIG SIGNINGS’”
After claimimng that he was goung to make two big signigs this summer, how many has Rafa Made???? None, that’s how many….
And No Glen Johnson is not a big signing!!!
Donavan Ried - July 11th, 2009 at 3:57 pm
Sorry this is not a pop at you lfc, but rather at Rafa
johnny barnes - July 11th, 2009 at 4:18 pm
Respect your comments Donovan Reid, but i disagree with us getting second by default i actually think we should have won the league, this season we had the best run, (86 would have won us the league a few seasons ago), we didn’t lose at home, we just drew to many games that we should of killed off. I feel we gave united the title….
Your spot on with the two horse race next season, and it really being a good chance of winning something…
Can i ask though, who would you buy this season ? realistically. i do think ribery is quality but getting him i just don’t see it happening
johnny barnes - July 11th, 2009 at 4:20 pm
also rafa did say that he was going to make a big signing that would “disturb united” , i do really love the gaffer but i really wish that he wouldn’t tyalk so much i just think he gets really angry with people and he just goes off on one. i mean what was the point in calling barry greedy?? we know that he is, why did rafa commentt?, plus there is n need in talking about bringing players in just do it or don’t
Ricky_Shay - July 11th, 2009 at 4:57 pm
i don’t see this happening…but do u people realise zat we could have bought ribery for less money than this some seasons ago…rafa could have given cisse or zenden for ribery to marseille…
johnny barnes - July 11th, 2009 at 5:12 pm
yeh and we could also have got ronaldo and aguero Ricky_shaw…. but who knows how good people are going to be???
plus after the citys and madrids of the world everyone is over priced
Jed - July 11th, 2009 at 5:24 pm
fuckers…if ribery comes to england it will be for west london not you liverpool slums
C>L
Rossdo - July 11th, 2009 at 10:17 pm
Anyone who thinks Glen is not a BIG signing is a total fool. I am salivating over the Johnston / Kuyt partnership nest season and was most vociferous in my desire to see Glen at Anfield last summer.
As for Ribery? Maybe. There is a BIG attacking name inbound to Anfield this summer and I would bet Machy is on his way out.
Wouldn’t have thought Ribery though. Maybe Silva or Villa if Machy goes. Ribery? WHo knows?
Would bet on one of the three though.
-lfc- - July 11th, 2009 at 11:12 pm
come on i am saying what rafa has said no more big signings johnson is a big signing how could u not class him as big i do personally think that we will sign one more but if alonso and mascherano go another will be needed not two and that will be cambiasso
Ash T - July 12th, 2009 at 12:12 am
rafa stated the other day that when sir alex finds out who liverpool have signed he wil be sh*ting him self
and then he comes out and say hes not going to be signing any more big big signings
now why would rafa state that alex will shit him self if es not going to make a big signing
so obviosly rafa is lieing about not signing any one big
i expect another big signing atleast before alonso and mascherano go if they do go that is
deerwood - July 12th, 2009 at 12:25 am
u may not take my views seriously as for the following reasons… I am a 14 year old boy and my father is the finacial manager at anfeild and has told me that 2day after the drawing of the account rafa has askd for a 40mil withdrawment also rafa hasn’t publicly said that he won’t be making a a big name signing for big money Liverpool are very sly and clever about there transfers think about torres who new Liverpool had been linked with fernando torres before the deal and now he turns out to be the best striker in Europe also Liverpool have been linked with ribery in the past when ribery wanted to join liverpool however Liverpool could only coume up with a fee of 5mil which the club wudnt accept… finally my dad belives alonso will go for 35mil + huntelar to real Madrid which will cover our strikers allowing gerrard to play in the centre of midfeild with a signing of cambiasso also Liverpool will keep masch however just increase his wage as he is only on 25k a week also Liverpool will drop David viere aproach which was very popular behind the scenes and sign David silva playing ribery on the right gerrard masch in the middle silva on the left torres and huntelar upfront this would be a great squad and should hopefully win the league benitez will also be left with 20mil to spend In january for any emergancy signings Manu with out tevez or ronaldo will be nothing and no matter who they sign they cannot replace the role of them to players can somebody please find out how many winners ronaldo has scored aswell as tevez thankyou but the ribery move is very posative
p.s I shudnt say this however my dad was being a nob at the dinner table and took my playststion off me

-lfc- – July 11th, 2009 at 11:12 pm ….. I know you were only quoting Rafa mate … But how in the hell can you call Glen johnson a big sign??????
johnny barnes - July 12th, 2009 at 1:36 am
Look maybe its just me but Glen Johnson is not a big signing…. A big Signing is not all about spending 17mill, not in this day and age… thats like saying Valencia was a big signing for United???? a bigger signing was Owen, (scum), who they got for free….
johnny barnes - July 12th, 2009 at 1:37 am

Ash T i was not aware that Rafa Had said This to Fergie …. Where is it reported that he said this?…… If it is true then Maybe he has made a big signing after all….. if true his last staement is no a lie …. “hes not going to be signing ANYMORE big signings” ……. Let’s hope so
Lincoln burrows - July 12th, 2009 at 3:41 am
@Donovan, lets hear your definition of a big signing. Johnson is a big signing. End of… Its not only when we sign strikers(cos that’s all you want) that we made a big signing.
After all we beat chelski to it
Donavan Ried - July 12th, 2009 at 3:03 pm
Lincoln burrows – July 12th, 2009 at 3:41 am ……. JB is right a big sign is not all about the money… To me a big signing is about a player that would greatly improve the team …. as i have staed before on this site no one can doubt that come forward Glen johnson is good it is his play in derence that is suspect. while playing for Chelsea he would quite often be caught ball watching in defence. hence why Chelsea got rid of him ….. He might give us more going forward than Alvaro Arbeloa but i am not sure the same can be said for him in defence….
Please not that when i am asked for my reasons for saying a player is this or a player is that i give a reason i do not say as that a play is this “End of” as you do. All that tends to do is to show me that you have a closed mind and that you are unwilling to see anybody views that do not match your own
-lfc- - July 12th, 2009 at 6:14 pm
he is a big signing last year he was the best right back in the premierleague and thats not my opinion its a fact and he got an award for it and let me not to mention that he is still young and a great english prospect which is hard to come by

Liverpool Hopeful of £15m Wing Wizard Signing!
fowler9 – July 12th, 2009 at 4:07 pm ………..”shhhhhhhhhhhh every time i come on this site you are ripping on fellow reds.are you that arrogant as to believe that if your not from liverpool we dont know football.why is everybody that does not agree with you a cockney (check out older posts)”
yeah and what is this with the cocnkey slur?… A Cockney is someone born within the sound of Bow bell. … I was not…. If it is because i am from down south guilty as charge. But Remember, Liverpool supports coming all shapes and sizes and from all conners of the world….
But really ….. I would like to see you make a post about one of these subjects and back up your points
I have and always will state my thoughts on the subjects at hand. … I hold no fear of people telling.SORRY… Explaining to me why they think that i am wrong….. As you never post anything about football (That is not slanging off others on this site) i can only assume that you (a) Lack the intelligence to make a informative post of your own…..or (b) you fear that others here will see you for what you really are ….
Look forward to hearing this reply
