Carlo Ancelotti prepares for the worst!
Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti is lining up moves for three defenders with John Terry’s future still in the balance.
West Ham’s Matthew Upson, Porto centre-back Bruno Alves and Genoa’s Domenico Criscito are all in the frame.
While Ancelotti wants to keep hold of skipper Terry, the player has told friends he is tempted by the prospect of a huge wage rise at Manchester City, which could set up his family for generations.
With Ricardo Carvalho ready to leave Chelsea for Inter Milan, another Portuguese defender, Alves, 27, is the leading target. He is keen on moving to London and Chelsea will pay £18million once they have sold Carvalho, and also Deco, to Inter.
Decision Ancelotti also wants Italy Under-21 international Criscito, who can play at left-back as cover for Ashley Cole or in central defence. Genoa would do business for around £7m.

So would John Terry really up sticks and leave Stamford Bridge? Well if you asked anyone that question a month ago they would have laughed hard in your face, but ask the same question now and it seems a little less certain that the England Captain is to play out his entire career at Chelsea.
He wants more money, he’s not happy with the obscene wage packet he gets, he wants the same as Frank Lampard, who will in turn ask for more and the whole thing will spiral out of control. Carlo Ancelotti isn’t a man to suffer fools gladly and he probably won’t think twice about selling the centre back if he doesn’t get the respect he feels he deserves.
So with that in mind the west London club have reportedly considered these three as potential replacements, all of them are decent but would they ably replace the rock that is JT, probably not. Matthew Upson could do the job pretty well and is at the peak of his powers but is still not consistent enough to consider as an effective replacement. But then who would be?
Trio outlined to replace John Terry: If the club does lose the 28 year old talismanic presence then it will be a big blow and one they will find hard to recover from swiftly.
