Tottenham Close In On £3.5m Midfield Veteran Patrick Vieira
by Steven Constable on July 21st, 2009 10 commentsThis move could take some getting used to!
The Rumour
Tottenham remain locked in talks with Inter Milan midfielder Patrick Vieira.
The Daily Express says Spurs boss Harry Redknapp and chairman Daniel Levy are already in negotiations with Inter about trying to sign former Arsenal captain Vieira.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s transfer to Barcelona could also help Vieira tie up a move to White Hart Lane. He wants a £1m pay-off from Inter.

The Analysis
I am sure when Tottenham fans first heard of this potential swoop they must have done a double take and questioned the validity of such a deal but now it appears that this could well become a reality as Harry Redknapp continues negotiations with the former Arsenal captain about a move to White Hart Lane.
33 year old Vieira still has a couple of good years left him and he may well like the idea of a move back to the Premier League and It’s a little surprising that Arsenal haven’t made a move for their former favourite, especially given the lack of a experienced battling defensive midfielder.
If the Inter Milan man does move to White Hart Lane I am sure he will still get a good reception from his former fans given the years of great service he gave to the Gunners.
The Likelihood
Vieira to Spurs: What would have seemed like an unlikely transfer months ago seems a little nearer to becoming a reality now.

Like the good shepherd said, “get the flock out of here”
Surely he has more respect for arsenal than that!
There must be other options for him.

Dom I’m highly under sexed right now and would kill for a handjob off man woman or beast so like the great ki-ora add puts it “I’ll be your dog!!”

well if Tevez can go from Utd to City and Owen to Utd,Viera to Spurs is not unusual.

Unfortunately Calvo you’re probably right.
Isn’t it hard to comprehend though that these people’s alliegences are to make money when people like us who would do it for free whose alligience is solely with one club are paying the money grabbers.

Too true.
What grates me is the whole “kissing the badge” stuff.
One minit their kissing the badge the next their saying their off to another club because of the”project” like they are some kind of Investment Manager.
Unfortunately these players are creaming it of the back of supporters mainly young who had idolised them.
Im not overly blaming the players tho as their agents are as much to blame.

I’m not having a pop at Man United here Calvo but the worst culprit for that is once a blue always a red rooney!!
I agree entirely about the agents though. Money grabbing by misleading people into thinking the grass is greener regardless of there alliances and debt to there own club.

Vieira is well past his prime, he would not bring anything to the spuds that they don’t already have in Wilson Palacios.

Surprising! Why? Wenger is a fuckwit. He also could have gotten pires back and aquired Van Nistelrooy
