And the whole damn merry-go-round spins again!
Real Madrid are closing in on the transfer of Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso.
The Spaniard has been linked with a move to the La Liga giants for most of the summer, and reports today suggest a deal could be reaching its conclusion.
Real have reportedly increased their bid to £30m, with sources in Spain suggesting that Liverpool will relent considering the sizeable sum the Spanish club are willing to pay. (The Independent)
Xabi Alonso’s future at the club continues to be called into question and recent comments from the player point out that he can’t guarantee he will be at the club come the new season, but I guess that’s only fair because it would be unfair to say otherwise, especially if it may not in the end be down to him making a decision but more about whether the club agrees to lower it’s valuation and see what Real Madrid does next.
I am sure that all Liverpool fans would want this resolved one way or the other and at least if the club is to lose the talented midfielder they will also have a fair chunk of change to invest in areas that are in need of strengthening, such as a back up striker.
