Where the hell did this come from?
Rafa Benitez is planning a move for Jermaine Jenas.
The Spaniard asked about Jenas, 25, in January, when he hoped to take him to Anfield as part of the deal which saw Robbie Keane return to Spurs.
However, Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp did not want to lose him at that stage of the season.
Now, though, Redknapp wants to overhaul his squad and only Jonathan Woodgate, Aaron Lennon and Jermain Defoe are deemed not for sale at any price.
That has opened the door for Benitez to table an offer once he knows what is happening with compatriot Alonso and Argentina midfielder Mascherano.
Chelsea and Manchester City could yet make a bid for the unsettled Alonso.

This is a hard one to swallow I am afraid and usually The People manages to create speculation that hasn’t existed anywhere until it suddenly popped into the tired journo’s head. Jermaine Jenas is not the best central midfielder in the world, he kind of falls between many stalls in a number of key areas.
He can be very effective but far to often drifts out of games and he can be immensely frustrating to watch, or at least so many Spurs fan friends of mine tell me. Harry Redknapp seems more than happy to let him go which should set the alarm bells ringing in Liverpool fan’s heads, why would a player at White Hart Lane be surplus to requirements only to be linked with a team chasing for the title?
Far more likely a move to Aston Villa would go through as Martin O’Neill tries to make up for the loss of Gareth Barry.
Jenas to Liverpool: Never in a million years!
