Arsenal Will Offer Vieira Huge Deal to Encourage Dream Return
by Alan Smith's Forehead on July 30th, 2009 16 commentsWhat better way to fill the Patrick Vieira void in the midfield!

ARSENE WENGER wants Patrick Vieira to make a shock return to Arsenal.
Vieira, 33, who spent nine years at the club before being sold to Juventus for £13.7million in 2005, is considering an identical offer from Gunners boss Wenger to the one made by bitter North London rivals Spurs. Both clubs are ready to give the Inter Milan midfielder a one-year contract with big bonuses. (The Sun)
This is fantastic news and I can only hope that the former legend is up for the challenge. He has been flirting with the chance of a move to the Premier League but was probably a bit unnerved to find that only arch-rivals Tottenham made an asserted effort to sign him which left Gunners fans, myself included, praying that Wenger would try to nab him.
Sure he isn’t a long term solution but given that the club have been trying to fill the void left by the big Frenchman since he left four years ago, it seems only fair that he comes back for one last hurrah.
After failing to secure Felipe Melo and Yaya Toure the club still need to find a competent midfielder to play alongside and support Cesc Fabregas and perhaps Vieira can help educate the likes of Denilson and Alex Song until one or both can adeptly fill the role.
Given that Patrick is still getting a decent amount of pitch time at the San Siro and taking into account that he has helped Inter Milan to three successive Serie A titles, it could be that he had more than one season left in the tank but I would totally understand if Wenger offered him a rolling 12 month deal and surely he would be tempted..wouldn’t he?

Definitely sensational move and let sign Huntelaar, Veloso and one established centre back likes Sakho. We will be in heaven at the end of the season!
Karani Mutonga - July 30th, 2009 at 1:09 pm

My god people, Vieira isn’t the same player he was 4 years ago.
His legs can only do about 60mins these days & he has had alot of injuries over the last 2 years.
As for calling Sakho an established centre back, are you kidding. He is a 19yo that has had 1 decent season in the FRENCH league, he is a good player but not established.
Nothing wrong with Gallas, hopefully Vermaelen proves to be the answer, wasn’t too impressed with him against Barnet.

Vieira will be a great addition to the sqaud. Hes not gonna be expected to play 40-50 games a season. He will play more in a role like Scholes and giggs. 20 games a season. Just to have he’s experience in the camp helping out the rest of the team. Between him, gallas, even Silvestre they have bags of experience and have won major honour and have all played in big games so i for one would welcome him back with open arm.
Think about the positive effect it would have on the likes of Son, Diaby etc. He’d show them the real rules of being a ‘holding Midfielder’ If he stays until he’s 35 then in those two years he would have so much of a positive influence on the rest of the players and help them to become world class and win titles, cups etc.
My Verdict- Wenger hurry up so the emirates faithful can welcome him back home!!

Well guys Wenger’s said tat he doesnt find it absolutely necessary to buy… then y did he sell adebayor n toure in t 1st place?? we should have taken a leaf outta evertons books n refused to sell toure n refused to get cowed down by a bunch of rich pricks from eastlands…. but no…. sadly the prof wanted t money…wats he gonna do wit all the money???
u think wit t kinda injuries our players carry all t time we’d be able to finish in the top 5 (forget winning n finishing in the top 4) this season??? Wenger wud struggle to find a playing 11 tat wud be of arsenal standards if he keeps going at this rate…
already fragile roscky’s injured yet again… nasri’s sitting out… who will play on t wings for us??? eboue wants to leave… senderos’s dispensable… they both will leave once the transfer window closes leavin us in a sorry state… n matter of fact wenger wont risk playin t randalls n meridas in those position… so whom do we expect to fill in those positions…vela??? ramsey???
T scene’s gettin increasingly worryin…
If wenger’s started to think tat thumping a bunch of street kids from hungary n beating a sub standard german team’s positive signs about arsenal then he’s sadly mistaken… cometh t prem… more players will get injured ( i sincerely pray they dont but injuries r bound to happen) or fatigue’s gonna set in or players wud leave on national duty… n we’d be left in a sorry state…
Time to pull up our socks Mr.Wenger… get huntelaar n hangelaand n use the money judiciously instead of blowing it for some Highbury project or instead of filling the share holder’s pockets… cuz if we dont manage a trophy this season i wont be surprised wen t likes of fabregas, clichy, arshavin, sagna, gallas, rvp, walcotts n nasri’s leave us for good by the end of the season… It wud be our own biggest undoing….
Plz do something abt it…
IN ARSENE WE STILL TRUST…

with ade and toure off the middle eastlands, vieira would make a perfect replacement for the experience lost (toure’s experience that is). Let vieira tutor alex song and he will only get better.
