Two sides apparently agree deal

Andrea Pirlo

The Rumour

Ac Milan accept Chelsea swap terms for Pirlo

Ac Milan want Chelsea striker Claudio Pizarro as part of the deal for Andrea Pirlo.

The Mail on Sunday says Pirlo, Italy’s World Cup-winning midfielder, is set to rejoin Carlo Ancelotti at Chelsea in the next few days.

AC Milan are prepared to accept an offer of £10million for Pirlo if they can take striker Pizarro in the opposite direction.

The Italians have been trying to hold out for £14m for Pirlo, although they are expected to lower their price tomorrow to set the transfer in motion.

All parties are confident a deal can be done because the 30-year-old is very keen on the move and personal terms have already been agreed.

The Analysis

It seemed like AC Milan were fighting tooth and nail to keep the impressive midfielder at the club but in all likelihood give Andrea Pirlo’s desire to join Chelsea must have made Leonardo realise that he was fighting a losing battle and hence trying his hardest to get a deal that most suits the San Siro outfit and this source claims that a deal is done.

Claudio Pizarro’s Stamford Bridge career has never got off the ground but the Peruvian proved during his highly successful stint in the Bundesliga last season with Werder Bremen, where he scored an incredible 28 goals in all competitions, that he still has what it takes to succeed and the Italian side could do with some more attacking options for the coming season.

The entire package deal would come to around £22m which is not a bad price given that Pirlo is the wrong side of 30 and that he clearly wants to leave.

The Likelihood

Pirlo to Chelsea in swap deal: Pretty likely.
