This source comes up with a rumour so outrageously unlikely I just had to speak out against it!
Man Utd are being linked with a triple £100m raid on La Liga for David Silva, David Villa and Sergio Aguero.
Old Trafford chief Sir Alex Ferguson has already publicly declared his major summer transfer business is over but it has not stopped rumours of a double swoop on Valencia for striker Villa and winger Silva.
Los Che arrive in Manchester this week for a glamour friendly and United know the Spaniards are strapped for cash and unable to resist tempting offers for any of their players.
Atletico Madrid striker Aguero is also said to be on Fergie’s radar but it would take a bid in excess of £30m to prise the Argentine away from the Vicente Calderon.
Spain stars Villa and Silva would cost somewhere in the region of £60m. (Eat Sleep Sport)
Now this story is straight out of cloud cuckoo land. I have no doubt Sir Alex may well land one more player this summer, maybe even a relatively big name, but he isn’t going to go money mad and try to outdo Man City spending spree for the simple reason he simply doesn’t need to!
I’d say of the three the most likely and also the most promising is David Silva. With the new Premier League season just 12 days away Ferguson will know that bringing in players at this stage can greatly disrupt the important Pre-season plans.
Sure he did it last summer when he bought on deadline day but that was simply because it took that long for Tottenham to admit defeat, it certainly isn’t something the United boss will be planning to repeat, after all you could argue that last season’s poor start to the season was down to that uncertainty, just one win in their first seven games in all competitions.
