About bloody time!
“Robbie do you know why Harry doesn’t answer my calls?”
Sunderland’s lengthy pursuit of Darren Bent could soon bear fruit after the Tottenham striker flew north to tie up a £14m move, BBC Sport understands.
The 25-year-old has long been a target for Black Cats boss Steve Bruce but the two clubs have, until recently, failed to reach agreement over the fee.
However, a deal now looks to have been reached after Bent arrived in the north east on Monday to undergo a medical.
Bent’s signing will take Sunderland’s summer spending past the £25m mark. (BBC Sport)
It was a move that Darren Bent wanted to badly he decided to go for broke and tell the world the way he felt via his twitter account (talking of which why not follow our Twitter Account? CLICK HERE to do so).
Steve Bruce is seemingly bulging with cash at the moment, courtesy of Sunderland owner Ellis Short, sounds like a good name for a James Bond villain. Mr. Bent was very badly treated at Spurs in my opinion and considering he was actually the club’s top scorer last term could well have done with a bit of gratitude, expect him to do well at the Stadium of Light, especially when they come up against his former north London employers!
