Glad this saga is over.Xabi will be back next year when he sees how rubbish Real will be.Two decent signings now required.I think Lucas will be brillant this year.
red - August 4th, 2009 at 7:34 pm
I think we can expect to see Silva and possibly Villa join
Personally, I think £34 million is a great price for him (£30 m upfront and 4m based on performances) is excellent. I think Alonso is a luxury player in the premiership so it’s great business by Rafa.
Fearon - August 4th, 2009 at 7:35 pm
Rafa you stupid cunt. Treat our playmaker, the guy who makes us tick like horseshit and now he has fucked off. Silva, Aquilani etc etc will take time to settle and adjust. Rafa has fucked up and mark my words, today is a bad day in our persuit of #19. Good luck Xabi, you deserved better than that fat, bold spanish waiter, cunt gave you.

poulsen good cover, he is a good passer and hes a good tackler.
but hes not good enough for liverpools 1st 11

I can’t see why Rafa would have moved from the fee he had. He was in no rush to sell, he’s a smart man guys. We probably got a decent ammount of money.
Do some business Rafa let’s get back spending.
red - August 4th, 2009 at 7:59 pm
you make the fee undisclosed so that we won’t get taken to the cleaners (too much) when we bid for new players. whole world knows man u has 80 million and milan 60 million.
better to keep schtum

or are you going to blame the misses like the puff you r

i though this aqulani was all but a done deal. now im hearin were in for that christian poulsen from juventus. what aload of shit that poulsen aint no liverpool player i seriously hope rafa,s got somethin up his sleave or were winnin jack shit again this season. we need alike for like replacment for alonso as much as were pissed of with him for puttin in a transfer request he was a fantastic player and an important part of the team if this poulsen rumours true were takin a step back. does anyone watch seria a ??? that poulsen is shite.
snowball - August 4th, 2009 at 8:40 pm
Thanks for the service – he could of huffed last year but didn’t was one of our best players and earned us 20M. Now Rafa bring in 2 world class players one of Silva/Matta/Robben/Martinez and one of Villa/Augero. We need world class not sh1t with possible potential – Diomede/LeTallac/Pongolle etc
Fact - August 4th, 2009 at 8:43 pm
Alonso has made a big mistake moving to madrid as it took him a few seasons to truly settle into the premiership and the way liverpool play.
I doubt he will be afforded the same luxury over there. Bad move.

spend the money on aguero
reira will only get better this year(would prefer silva but we dont have the money for both)
get poulsen he would be good cover
then rest of the money can go on young english talent- wheater, cattermole, adam johnson ……

rafa is said to be one of the stubbornest men in the world of football. therefore if anyone has caved in majorlyy its gonna be real. i know it was an agent of the club who lead negotiations but he isnt gonna make the final decision without rafas say so. perez has the money, we need the money. i reckon between 28-30 million which would mean neither club have given in. they have jus reached a compromise. now im about 80% certain we have jus about already signed aquilani coz we previously had easily enough money to buy him. now i reckon rafas likely to go on a massive push for villa for 35 mil plus voronin or somethin like that. if not then i think he will get either silva or mata. he isnt gonna sell alonso and not get hes moneys worth in players afterwards. i have faith rafa will make several good signings which will make us stronger in depth and as a starting 11. i jus hope my faith isnt misplaced.
john - August 4th, 2009 at 9:11 pm
oh and ash T i think aguero is a bit of a gamble although he will 100% be a very top striker in a few years. we jus cant afford to buy players with “potential” when tbh we need proven players coz this season is key. the sort of players i mean is ashley young, aquilani and silva. ones u know are good at the big teams. if were gonna get youth then i would like adam johnson and milner for the wings. although johnson isnt hopeful as southgate said he is not selling him.
lfc god - August 4th, 2009 at 9:12 pm
xabi u will be missed all da best. dusnt mattert hu da fuck we get as long aswe get at leas 2 possibly 3 w/c players (villa, aguero, silva, cdm)

so xabi is gone ouch its like a kick in the nuts rafa please soften the blow sign aguero tommorow
Ash T - August 4th, 2009 at 9:22 pm
i think 30mill for aguero that would be a good deal he as proven he can play with torres, and he is already a good striker and will only get better, i think he will come to the prem and have the success like torres did.
Anonymous - August 4th, 2009 at 9:24 pm
mr red riera had a buyout clause of 20 mil and what did he cost
Ash T - August 4th, 2009 at 9:24 pm
he might have a buy out clause but this is liverpool football club, the club aguero supports and wants to play for, and atletico and liverpool have a good relationship so he might come, if not this summer then next summer

.aquilani
.negredo
.silva
.defour

i reckon two from the following would help us forget about alonso
aguero, villa, silva
personally, i’d love to see aguero and silva
hope hicks and gillette have deep pockets!
2D - August 4th, 2009 at 10:22 pm
it’s really clever what benitez has done by not disclosing what he got in the alonso deal, if you go around flouting that you got 30m+ then everyone is gonna put top prices on their stars, he’s keeping it quiet so he can get some bargains like the previously mentioned aquilani for 15.8m rather than the 25m that roma originally wanted

its a shame xabi’s going but he has been a great servant for the club, in rafa we trust.

Anonymous looks my memory is not as short as yours, rafa only tryed to sell him last season because he was not cutting it the season before and it gave him the kick up the arse he needed, agreed last season he was spot on and it was a bit unfair by rafa to try and sell him but it did give us alonso best season in a red shirt ,he will not be loved at rm like he was here and as a fan cannot help being let down by alonso should of give us one more term as it is so close to the start of season, would of said good luck then , now I hope he breaks his leg

guys come on!!! few months ago he was adored by us! think about this…… if u were a professional footballer and loved liverpool as much as u do now and u was 27 playing in spain, then liverpool come in for you, wtf would you wanna do? alonso, thanks for everything, ur goal in the champo league final, ur 60 yard wonder goals, ur 80 yard wonder passes, ur funny interviews with stevie and carra, ur LOYALTY to our cause this past season and most of all for being a red… you dont deserve some of these comments, all the best mi amigo
Warrenisaredfan - August 4th, 2009 at 11:22 pm
SOLD:(Will sell)
Charles Itandje for approximately £1-2m to (UNKNOWN)
Sami Hyypia for Bosman free to Bayern Leverkusen
Jack Hobbs for £500,000 to Leicester and Anderson to Nott.Forest for £200,000
Alvaro Arbeloa for £3.5m to Real Madrid
Sebastien Leto for £3m to Pananthiakos
Jermain Pennant for Bosman free to Real Zaragoza
Xabi Alonso for £30m to Real Madrid
Andrea Dossena for approx £4.5m to Napoli or Juventus?
Released players such as Godwin Antwi etc.
(January) Robbie Keane to Spurs at approx £13-15m
Therefore, we would have approximately £15m left from our original summer transfer kitty and then another approx £40m from player sales. Therfore, we should have a warchest of £55m! However, tax will be subtracted from the fees given and with the club in debt it would be realistic to suggest that some of the transfer money will be put into paying them back.
Yet i am confident that our ‘Yanky’ owners will give us approximately £50m or possibly more to invest this summer, as it would be in their best interests financially if the club were to go on to win honours.
Therefore this is what i beleive we will sign, baring in mind this is only suggested from the most relible and consistent sources for players who are regularly suggested:
Glen Johnson from Pompey for £17.5m (£7m subtracted from outstanding debt from previous Crouch transfer)…………10/10……….happened lol.
Alberto Aquilani from Roma for £17m……………..9/10
Micheal Turner from Hull for £6-7m / Sylvain Distin from Pompey for £4-5m……………..6/10
David Silva from Valencia for £20m ( though it is very likely he may well be a man.utd player come next week)………..5/10
Steven Defour from Standard Liege for £11m…………….6/10
Cristian Poulsen from Juventus for £6-7m…………….6/10
If the proposed Silva transfer falls on death ears then i beleive it would be very realistic to suggest that Rafa may well invest the remaining £30+m on a ‘big-name’ signing of one of the following:
David Villa of Valencia………4/10
Diego Forlan of Athletico Madrid…………..4/10
Alvaro Negredo of Real Madrid………..6/10
Kleber of Crueziero…………….6/10
Ashley Young of Aston Villa…………..5/10
Aaron Lennon of Spurs……………..6/10
Franck Ribery of Bayern Munich………..2/10
Ezequiel Lavezzi of Napoli………..6/10
Wesley Sneijder of Real Madrid……….3/10
Sergio Aguero of Athletico Madrid………4/10
Mauro Zarate of Lazio………………..6/10
Anyone’s guess but peronally i wouldn’t be surprised to see another south american addition………………………..

All the best Xabi, but I don’t wish you the best if we meet at the CL. As said by many above, we have lost one of the best players, but I feel its all that bug dud, Rafa’s fault. Many of you have forgotten that even mr pool, Stevie G wanted to leave. Stevie!!! Why? Even after lifting the CL and FA cup? Something seriously wrong here and its the fault of that goat with the goatee. He has faith in dud’s like Lucas, but prefer’s to sell one of the best pass master’s in Xabi. Torres only came cos the dud pull a fast spanish trick on him and we had the CL in the bag to show and we had made it to a final we should not have lost. It takes years for most players to settle in. Do we have that luxury, and allow that monstrosity called Alex gloat when they get #19? The spine is broken, my heart is broken, but my love for LFC lives on. YNWA, even if we sadly stand by the side and watch as othewrs pass us by……

Ash T u stupid twat, u change ur mind everytime u speak on here, i mean ffs make ur mind up pal.
The sale of alonso hmm not sure, i think rafa gave in and settled for about 27mill but lets use this cash to bring in acquilaini and defour.
Lets be realisitc any one that believes rafa will be signing villa or aguero then you need to wake up u dopey bastards. A more realistic option would be negredo , huntelaar or silva. So stop dreaming lads and start thinking more realistically, how much money do u think liverpool have, o wait not much seeing as they owe banks over 300mill. The only money liverpool will be having now is money made by players going out e.g. alonso , arbeloa etc. and about 10-15mill given by the owners.
So……..
Defour , Acquilani these 2 definate
and any of these 3, Negredo, Huntelaar, Silva
9torres - August 5th, 2009 at 8:33 am
I think Defour/Martinez, Aquilani and Silva/Lavezzi/Negredo in.
Lucas, Dossena, Voronin out.
We need a replacement for Alonso, and a player for in between the lines.
Steve McMahon - August 5th, 2009 at 8:34 am
At last it’s over, pity this did’nt happen 2 months ago. With regards to whose fault it is that he is gone, for me it’s both of their faults. Alonso was asleep for almost 2 years, Rafa had to attempt to make changes, as managers have to, so he went after Barry, Alonso woke up, played his best season, and now he is gone. Personally (and anyone who know’s my post’s will know) I am no lover of Rafa, but his hand was forced by Alonso himself, by his 2 years of dopey football up until last year. People have short memories, for me Alonso was so f_cking anoying for the previous 2 years, slow on the ball, didnt score enough, etc, so if he had to play to his potential then he would be still with us, and our leader wouldnt of made a c_nt out of himself by chasing that plank Barry. Last season we were in the process of selling Alonso for around 12 mill to Juve, that in itself speak’s volumes for his performance over the previous 2 years, and now we have sold him for around the 30 mill mark, good business in my eye’s, as if he fell asleep againg this season we could be back to the 12 mill mark again resale value.
Anyway, f_ck it, onwards and upwards, everyone keeps talking about this Italian bloke Aquaduct, never seen him play, or maybe I just cant remember seeing him play, which speaks for itself really.
Personally whoever we get, I just hope he is a more attacking type of player, as for me personally Alonso was too negative, a square and a backwards passer as much as a forward killer ball passer.
Hopefully now we can see some descent transfer action, and quick, as it’s been one long boring summer with the amount of speculation but f_ck all action in the transfer market.
Now wake the f_ck up Rafa and do what you are paid to do, manage………..
bill gee - August 5th, 2009 at 9:21 am
Selling Sami was probably a bigger mistake than Alonso, Some may suggest his pace has gone but he was always there to cover and was hardly ever injured. Agger seems cursed of late, skirtle is always a doubt and Carragher will soon start to feel the rigours due to burn out , its impossible to rest him.
Liverpool should look around them and note the massive transfere prices that are now taking place throughout europe and then make a statement of intent by braking the bank to buy Villa and silva and a versitile defender, probably of scandinavian dissent. We are a big big club and we do have the money!!!!

you’re sort of missing the point. We could get Negredo for £12m Villa would cost £40+ m and Aguero £50+m. It’s like saying why are we linked with Aquilani when we should sign Kaka.
