With Madrid and City spending money like a drunken man in Vegas, whose fortunes will change from spending a fortune? Who’s gamble will succeed and who will end up behaving like Rainman?

I know there is always the argument of money won’t buy the league and I agree with the fact that money certainly won’t by you the respect of the general football fan, look at Chelsea, their popularity of the all important working class footie fan certainly hasn’t improved since the oil Barron rolled into town.

The one striking difference between the two clubs is that Madrid have started another Galatico era by buying up all the talent from across Europe all world class individuals who see Madrid as the holy grail of football so it would seem that they have gone there for all the right reasons, Madrid after all is the self pre-claimed biggest club in the world, they certainly think they are with their transfer policy that of a play ground bully doing all that they can to achieve their one objective, taking what is legally another’s with under hand tactics.

City on the other hand have bought in players that are proven in their current league which should ensure instant form, they know the league inside and out so they should hit the ground the running, but why have the players gone there? Have they seen that they are a club on the up that they are in fact the next in line to Madrid’s throne? Or are they money hungry mercenaries of football? I know people’s points of view on Adebayor are strong but the counter argument would surely be do City have more chance of winning silverware than the Gunners this year? Toure and Adebayor must think that.

I think that it will be really interesting this season to see how Man City do and I imagine that most footie fans would like to see them fall flat on their face, surely if they start badly the Manager merry go round will begin and depending on what happens in Madrid surely City and Real Madrid will go to war with their cheque books again, but this time looking for Managers. Just ask Chelsea’s ex employees, money equals pressure like no other.
