Rounding up yesterdays biggest transfer news and gossip.

“Is that the way to Sunderland?”
Portsmouth Set To Lose Even More Players.
With negotiations with Sulaiman Al Fahim’s in a stale mate, Portsmouth will look to cash in on some of their bigger named players. Reports suggest that Antti Niemi will replace David James – who is likely to join Sunderland.
David Nugent is another player who is set to leave and could join Stoke for £4M, which is almost half of the original asking price. The futures of Sylvain Distin and Niko Kranjcar also hang in the balance as various clubs are willing to make bids.
Personally I can’t see anything but championship football in Portsmouth future. You know it’s bad when even a die-hard Portsmouth fan puts a bet on the club to get relegated. At first it was Defoe, Crouch and Johnson who left, but now Distin, James, Nugent and Kranjcar all look very likely to leave. What’s more is, the club just doesn’t have the financial backing to be able to bring in any good names. Perhaps they should look to acquire the services of free agents such as Viduka and Hamman.
No doubt James wont want to be playing for a team who will most likely lose more than half of their games, so a move to Sunderland extremely likely.
What I can’t get to terms with is… Portsmouth have so many players leaving, and a wafer thin squad. So why are they trying to get rid of Nugent. They are offering him to Stoke at a reduced price just to speed up his departure. Even with the player having a bust up I find that strange.
Likelihood Rating: 3 of the 4 players named will leave – 8/10

Huntelaar To Sign For Milan
Arsenal and Tottenham are likely to miss out on the signature of Huntelaar as he looks set to sign for Ac Milan. The Independent reports that the Dutch striker will put pen to paper, completing a €15m (£12.7m) move to Milan today.
Well that settles that then. Spurs and Gunners fans will both be feeling slightly disappointed, but in all honesty the move never really looked likely. I just couldn’t see Huntelaar playing for Spurs, and Arsene just wouldn’t spend that amount on a player.
But try to look on the bright side… At least he didn’t sign for your rivals.
Likelihood Rating: This is done and dusted – 10/10

City Are As Big As Real Madrid And Brazil.
Robinho believes Manchester City are now as big as Real Madrid and Brazil.
Robinho said: “Manchester City are thinking big and if I’m honest there is no difference between City and Real Madrid or the Brazilian national team.” – The Sun
What a load of pony. Are we talking about the same Manchester City that have no defence? The same Manchester City that hasn’t won a single pre season game? The Same Manchester City that… I could do this for a while, but I won’t. I wouldn’t even put City in the same category as Aston Villa, let alone Brazil.
I suppose its best to take this statement with a pinch of salt, seeing as it comes from a man who thought he was a Chelsea player after he signed for City.

Guess Who’s Back For Masch
The Daily Mail reports that Mascherano is still Barcelona’s number one target.
Please God no! I feel that every Liverpool fan on the planet will have been struck with an impending sense of doom after hearing this news. Its not something we can begin to contemplate, especially not after the wound of losing Alonso is still fresh. Rafa will no doubt do his best to block this transfer from happening, I only hope that Masch can put his personal life to one side and stick it out with us for one more season. Losing him now would be catastrophic for the club and I’m sure he knows this… Well I hope he does.
Likelihood Rating: He will stay for one more season… Fingers crossed – 4/10
