Hopefully Rafa won’t make a second bid!
Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has seen a bid to land defender Michael Turner on the cheap fail after Hull demanded £12million.
Benitez saw a verbal enquiry amounting to £6m for the highly rated centre half rejected out of hand.
Hull manager Phil Brown rates his prize asset at double that price and intends to hold out for a bigger fee.
He said: ‘We’ve had a verbal offer from a club in the Premier League but there’s been no firm offer through communications at boardroom level. That was nowhere near our expectations. (Daily Mail)
Well all I can say is we may have just dodged a bullet with this one. Quite how Phil Brown expects to get such a high fee for a player who essentially had one good half season is beyond me.
Given a choice between paying this kind of money for the likes of Michael Turner or opting for a cheaper more experienced option like Sylvain Distin I would opt for the Frenchman in a split second. After all clearly any centre back signing is simply to act as cover so why spend such a fee on the Hull man?
