Seems unlikely to me.

LIVERPOOL plan to monitor Reading striker Simon Church during the season – with a view to signing him next year.

Former Liverpool boss Roy Evans has spoken to Rafa Benitez about the talented captain of Wales Under-21s.

Evans, who is the Wales assistant boss, rates Church, 20, highly and has told Benitez to keep an eye out for him in the Championship. (News of the World)

This seems slightly far fetched in my view. We are after all talking about a youngster who has played just two appearances for Reading and spent much of the last two years on loan to lower league sides, I have seen him play at Leyton Orient and wasn’t that impressed. He may well have potential but at 20 if he was so impressive surely he would have had more of an impact at the Madjeski?

We have many impressive young strikers coming through the academy such as Nemeth, Pacheco and Saric, so not sure that Church is even in the same league as these kids so really don’t see this deal coming to fruition.

Perhaps now that Kevin Doyle has left the Championship side the Welsh International may push on and further develop and perhaps then such a move would seem less unlikely.
