Liverpool Hope to Sign £3m Starlet Next Year

LIVERPOOL plan to monitor Reading striker Simon Church during the season – with a view to signing him next year.
Former Liverpool boss Roy Evans has spoken to Rafa Benitez about the talented captain of Wales Under-21s.
Evans, who is the Wales assistant boss, rates Church, 20, highly and has told Benitez to keep an eye out for him in the Championship. (News of the World)
This seems slightly far fetched in my view. We are after all talking about a youngster who has played just two appearances for Reading and spent much of the last two years on loan to lower league sides, I have seen him play at Leyton Orient and wasn’t that impressed. He may well have potential but at 20 if he was so impressive surely he would have had more of an impact at the Madjeski?
We have many impressive young strikers coming through the academy such as Nemeth, Pacheco and Saric, so not sure that Church is even in the same league as these kids so really don’t see this deal coming to fruition.
Perhaps now that Kevin Doyle has left the Championship side the Welsh International may push on and further develop and perhaps then such a move would seem less unlikely.

If we were to pay £3m for a young striker, I’m sure Rafa would want to look at English players rather than Welsh.

Welsh, English, Scottish, Nothern Ireland all have the same Nationality…….. British!
So i don’t think Rafa would give two flying fucks TBH

Have spent most for my life living in Reading before moving to Tottenham, i have a lot of friends there who rate young Simon Church ….. but having said that i would rather Rafa spend any money that he has on a Quality striker than someone for the future

end of the day church has proven he can make great runs and score plenty of goals at international level. If you had watched church durin his loan periods you would know the service to him was terrible! Torres would struggle at wycombe too! The same runs made against england u21s were never picked up on in the lower leagues, so maybe with gerrard on the ball church could become a player to watch out for.
3 million would be an absolute steal in my mind!
