Spurs Make Improved £21m Bid for Aston Villa Winger Young

The Rumour
SPURS are ready to make a new bid of £21million for England winger Ashley Young.
Boss Harry Redknapp will up his offer by £3m for the 24-year-old star after being encouraged by Villa’s pursuit of Wesley Sneijder, 25.
Redknapp is going in again after signals from Young’s camp and Villa boss Martin O’Neill’s confirmation he is interested in Real Madrid’s £16m-rated Dutch midfield star Sneijder.
O’Neill is in desperate need of a defender and will offer Middlesbrough £7m for their England Under-21 centre- back David Wheater.
Selling former Watford starlet Young, who is from Stevenage in Hertfordshire, would give O’Neill the cash he needs.

The Analysis
Redknapp has swung into action these past few weeks after seemingly failing in a number of potential captures, he has landed Peter Crouch, Sebstien Bassong and impressive Sheffield United pair Kyle Walker and Kyle Naughton and now it appears he is once again looking to snap up Ashley Young.
Aston Villa will not want to lose the England man and many will be surprised that he is still a Villa man so close to the new season as it appeared he was the target of much speculation. Martin O’Neill will not want to sell another big name, after losing Gareth Barry to Man City but if indeed the club are looking to find the money to sign Real Madrid playmaker Wesley Sneijder, then clearly selling the former Watford man would ably cover such a bid, but clearly this would not be a like for like replacement and the midlands side’s tactical plans greatly revolve around the left winger and the club can ill afford to lose him.
Whilst Luka Modric has been a success out on left, Harry is known to like more natural width on the flanks and has that in abundance with Aaron Lennon on the right and the club could therefore be looking to place Young out wide and perhaps push the Croat back into the middle where he is in many ways far more suited.
The Likelihood
Young to Spurs: It’s a deal that I can see happening.

Why would he leave villa for tottenham? theyre very similar teams, similar chance of attaining European football. If i was young i’d only leave for champs league. As much as i dislike O’Neill he’s doing a good job and has helped young develop.
Florida Reg - August 9th, 2009 at 8:07 pm
Yeah right. I really don’t think Villa need the cash. And why would Young trade European Football for a team who have achieved little of late despite huge expectations? It won’t happen. Who writes this rubbish?

And what exactly have Villa achieved??? When was the last time they actually won anything??? Spurs have much more potential, ambition and money than Villa!!!
Young is exactly what Spurs need and would complete the midfield alongside Palacios Modric and Lennon!! Who’s he got to look forward to playing alongside at Villa??? Reo Coker!!! Lol
