5) Danny Welbeck, 18 (Manchester united)

Danny marked his premiership debut with a 30 yard curling shot that you might remember. In total he has played 13 games for Man Utd, scoring 3 goals and at the age of 18 he is developing into a player or great quality.

4) Rafael, 19 (Manchester United)

Obviously Gary Neville is Manchester United’s first choice right back, but Rafael Da Silva proved a solid understudy. He made 28 appearances, scoring one goal and was shortlisted for the young player of the year award for 2008-09. Rafael and his identical brother Fabio (who play’s on the left side) may see themselves holding down a regular place at Man United in years to come.

3) Aaron Ramsey, 18 (Arsenal)

After impressing at Cardiff in the Championship Ramsey soon attracted Premiership interest, first Manchester United enquired, and then Arsenal and Everton joined the race. Eventually a £5m bid from Arsenal was accepted. Wenger described Ramsey as “a player with a fantastic engine, good build, good technique and good vision. He has already had a taste of Premiership and European football and scored his first goal in a 5–2 victory away against Fenerbahce in the group stages of the UEFA Champions League. (He is the youngest ever scorer in this competition). He already has 6 Wales caps and a great future ahead of him.

2) Jack Rodwell, 18 (Everton)

Dubbed the New Gerrard; Rodwell has a lot to live up to – but I reckon this kid is made of the right stuff. Rodwell really showed his worth in this year’s under 21 competition this year, his mazing runs wowed critics all over the world. He is part of an Everton youth set-up that includes Jose Baxter, Dan Gosling and Luke Garbutt who just missed out on my top ten.

1) Jack Wilshere, 17 (Arsenal)

Considered the first World Class English player to graduate from the Arsenal Academy, and its about time that Wenger has turned his attention to homing British talent. Jack will certainly be tipped to push for a first team place this season having already proved his worth in pre-season and in the previous season in the League cup. I honestly think he will become a world class player and I believe Wenger is the man to get the best out of him.
