Hopefully this rumour will not lead to anything!
Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez has claimed the transfer speculation surrounding midfielder Lee Cattermole is unsettling for both the club and the player.
Liverpool and Sunderland have been strongly linked with the England Under-21 international over the summer, with Black Cats’ boss Steve Bruce – formerly in charge at Wigan – admitting he will test the Latics’ resolve in trying to sign the player.
Martinez and club chairman Dave Whelan have been adamant that Cattermole will not be sold, and the former Swansea boss is calling for a resolution to the matter. (Goal.com)
I have read with fear and trepidation that Rafa may well make a sustained effort to sign Lee Cattermole, I can only hope it’s some sick joke. The Wigan man, much like Hull City’s Michael Turner, is a decent player who does the basic things easily enough but doesn’t appear to have that extra ability that marks out players of the top drawer from those who carve out a living at mid table outfits.
Yes I know that Rafa is keen to bring in more English talent but there are surely better options than these!
