Apparently Rafa doesn’t have much in the way of cash, if only we could offload these guys!
If reports that I have been reading are accurate then we are in a bit of a financial pickle and in order to bring in new players we need to offload those who really don’t belong, such as these four.
Andriy Voronin Value £4-6m
Not had a bad pre-season but then he has performed well in friendlies before and is by no means likely to get a starting spot anytime soon. Hertha Berlin showed signs of wanting to bring the Ukrainian back on a permanent basis, maybe it’s time we trimmed the price!
Charles Itandje Value £2-4m
Yes, that man! Let’s put aside his unbelievingly inappropriate behaviour and discuss his goalkeeping ability, which is pretty poor but surely at 26, a baby in goalie years, he could still get us a million or two? Olympiakos were said to be keen on him.
Andrea Dossena £5-7m
For a long while it looked like he may be on his way back to Italy and then Fabio Aurelio injured himself playing football with his kids. We still have Emiliano Insua so we can afford to rid ourselves of this hugely overrated full back.
Philipp Degen £2-4m
Not sure why Rafa signed him. Yes he has been plagued by injuries but when he has been in action hasn’t looked anywhere near good enough to represent a club of our stature. Not sure who would buy him though!
All of that would add up to somewhere between £13-21m, more than enough to snap up a decent back up centre back or even an experienced striker to cover for El Nino if or when necessary.
