Time for a new challenge?
Villa have been admirers of Jenas for a long time, as Sportsmail first revaled, and he is growing increasingly dissatisfied with his lot at Tottenham.
Manager Harry Redknapp is persisting with Tom Huddlestone and Luka Modric in various roles with Wilson Palacios to fit back in and Jenas is weighing up where his future best lies.
A Villa offer could well come in this week as they also look to tie up deals for Middlesbrough’s Tuncay and Sylvain Distin from Portsmouth. (Daily Mail)
Jermaine Jenas doesn’t appear to have much of a future at White Hart Lane and one can understand his dissatisfaction with Harry Redknapp and the very real prospect of being frozen out at Tottenham will surely lead to the 26 year old looking for a new home and I guess Aston Villa is a pretty good bet.
Martin O’Neill has been very smart during this transfer window, bringing in the likes of Downing, Beye and Delph and managing to keep hold of the much admired Ashley Young, but he may see JJ as a very good replacement for Gareth Barry although England Starlet Delph may be the long term solution Jenas is on his day a very able midfielder.
Spurs will be looking to get a fee in the region of £10-12m for the former England international and it could be that the valuation could well be the only stumbling block to this deal being completed.
