How much!
Stoke City are confident of keeping hold of defender Ryan Shawcross.
The Sentinel says reports that Liverpool have weighed in with a £5m bid for Shawcross have been laughed off by Stoke’s management.
Reds boss Rafa Benitez was said to be turning to Shawcross after being quoted £12 million for Hull City defender Michael Turner. (The Sentinel)
Other reports have stated that Shawcross’s head may have been turned by the supposed interest shown by Liverpool and that much like with the case of Michael Turner, Tony Pulis may have to put a large price on the young centre back’s head. This tactic appeared to have scared off Rafa from making another bid for the Hull City man, and it may well have the same effect with Potters defender.
I am a fan of Ryan’s and think he has a bright future but even in today’s hugely inflated transfer market such a fee would be crazy considering we are talking about a player with one decent season of Premier League football to judge by.
