2009/10 – Who Are Ya? – Manchester United’s Zoran Tosic
by Adam Hennessey on August 13th, 2009 246 words | 6 commentsWith the Premier League about to spark into life this weekend, COS reporter Adam Hennessey casts his eye over the players he feels will have an impact this coming season, but players who readers may not know much about.
Manchester United may have lost Cristiano Ronaldo from their midfield, aswell as Carlos Tevez, but Sir Alex Ferguson has looked to replace these two to some extent, with the signings of Antonio Valencia and Michael Owen, however, it may be a player already at Old Trafford, who may benefit immensely from this time to shine.
Zoran Tosic arrived from Partizan Belgrade in January 2009, and only made 2 appearances off the bench for the Premier League champions, as Sir Alex decided to let him adapt to the country, and the way United play, via the reserves. However, after an impressive pre-season tour of Asia for Tosic, he will be looking to try make one of the wide areas his own over the coming season. Comfortable down either wing, Tosic is a pacey, tricky dribbler, with excellent close ball control, who will look to take some of the goalscoring, and creative, burden off the likes of Berbatov, Rooney and Owen, similar to how Ronaldo did for the Red Devils. He is a key member of the Serbian team, alongside Manchester United counterpart Nemanja Vidic, and, with Serbia sitting ontop of their World Cup qualifying group, Tosic will be looking to go into the World Cup on a high.

I’m impressed by your article on Tosic but can He prove handy when mostly required is whats omportant. I in my own capacity dont doubt Sir Alex but I hope He will allow the Serbian star enough play time to enable Him o fully blend in cause we(as United fans) still want to see pacy and skillful football just like last season. I’m talkingg about perfomances similar to the Uefa Semis where it was outstanding counter attacking football at its best.I mean if He can control the ball as well as Rooney, strike it like Ronaldo, cut through defenders like Ryan Giggs, pass like Paul Scholes and produce a miracle when it counts like the rest of the team; I believe the lad is at the appropriate place at the right time ……….

i think you are right about tosic he has the potential to be a great player.
ljajic who comes over in january is arguably more gifted and can play in the centre as well as on the right wing.
i also like the look of cathcart ,cleverley and james who i think will all make their first team debuts this season.

We need pace, skill, quility in all aspects and most importantly goals. As long as according to Sir Alex’s analysis He can deliver the following, then He definately deserves play time. So, we wait and see …….!

He looks like he will develop into a consistent talent that SAF can call upon anytime. Personally I think he’s better than Park. Tosic played well and scored two goals for Serbia yesterday in their friendly against South Africa. Its time to give players like him a chance. Giggs and Scholes are on their last legs and the need to rebuild is now.
