Wow, now that’s a good way to start a season!

BENNY THE BALL

Yes Everton were woeful, defending like lifeless corpses, but to a man the Arsenal side were superb, hardly putting a foot wrong until in the 91st minute they felt sorry enough for their inept opponents to let them pull a goal back and the Gunners back four lose their clean sheet bonus.

From the very first minute Arsene’s starting eleven appeared to be in the right mood and as an attacking force they were at times irresistible. The game was pretty even and chances were few and far between but Song and Denilson were bossing the midfield nicely and importantly Tim Cahill was forced into stemming the tide rather than getting forward to support the pitiful Jo and then on 26 minutes Arsenal were ahead.

A good flowing movement on the edge of the box saw Fabregas psychically finding Denilson who cracked in a beauty from the edge of the box, the Gunners then netted two goals from their centre back duo getting one a piece both from truly wonderful balls from RVP and Cesc but one has to question the marking ability of the Toffees defence who vanished into thin air.

The second half started as the first one ended with the skipper weighing in with two goals, the second a real corker after a neat run and finish. The lad took their feet of the pedal at that point and it was plain sailing but David Moyes side decided some more poor defending was needed and Arshavin was allowed to waltz into the box fire in on goal only for Tim Howard to palm on to the post which left Eduardo an easy tap in as Joleon Lescott started to think to himself if this may be his last action in an Everton shirt. Louis Saha got the consolation but it mattered not.
