Well it took Emmanuel Adebayor just three minutes to open his Man City account with a fine well worked team effort of a goal that the former Arsenal man begun and finished but it took another 87 minutes for Mark Hughes to seal the victory at his former Blackburn Rovers stamping ground when Stephen Ireland made it 2-0.

Surprise result of the day must go to Roberto Martinez’s Wigan side who managed a fine 2-0 win at Villa Park with Hugo Rodallega scoring a belter and Jason Koumas putting away a second helping the Latics to a terrific away victory.

Chelsea’s Carlo Ancelotti will have been very nervous for the majority of his first Premier League match as the west London side just couldn’t seem to put Hull City to the sword. Stephen Hunt scored the first goal of the League season after some sloppy defending but Didier Drogba leveled things with a fine free kick but then Boaz Myhill kept the home side at bay with some good saves until Drogba scored a fine second in injury time which may or may not have actually been meant as a cross.

Darren Bent scored the only goal of the game on his Sunderland debut as Steve Bruce’s side won one nil at Bolton and a Bobby Zamora finish was enough to bring Roy Hodgson’s Fulham side a win at Pompey.

Stoke City produced a solid display to defeat newly promoted Burnley two nil and West Ham beat Wolves by the same scoreline.
