Real Madrid v D.C. United

VETERAN star Michel Salgado is set to sign a two-year deal with Blackburn.
The ex-Real Madrid right-back, 33, was surplus to requirements after 10 years at the Bernabeu.

Real spent almost £200million on new players this summer and desperately needed to lower their wage budget so released him earlier this month.

That led Rovers boss Sam Allardyce to swoop for Salgado on a free transfer.

The Spaniard is expected to pen-to-paper on a contract at Ewood Park later today. (The Sun)

This is a very good acquisition by Sam Allardyce and whilst Michel Salgado isn’t the same player he once was when he was winning Champions League trophies and La Liga titles, he is still only 33 and clearly still able to impress the Blackburn Rovers boss enough to offer him a two year deal.
