Joie Rafael VAN DER VAART

“It is really a nasty blow to hear that (Manuel) Pellegrini has no intention of relying on me. I really did not expect this, since I arrived in Madrid only a year ago.

“I have always dreamed of playing in Madrid, but the leadership has left me no choice: I must go.

“Staying in Spain makes no sense, since apart from Barcelona, all the other teams are of a lower level.” (Rafael Van Der Vaart as reported on Sportweek)

Arsenal are being strongly linked with a move for Real Madrid midfielder Rafael Van Der Vaart, who is targeting a move to England.

The Dutch star is surplus to requirements at Real following the arrival of Kaka, Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Xabi Alonso and reports claim Wenger could swoop.

The 26-year-old knows his days are numbered in Madrid and says his first choice would be to move to the Premiership.

“I really want to come to England,” he said. “There are a number of clubs with offers where I can go in Germany, Spain and Italy. I want to go to the Premier League and I know where I want to play.” (Clubcall)

We have been marvelous in our first two games of the season but that’s no reason to pass up an opportunity like this. Real Madrid’s Dutchman is a top notch performer and the type of player that fits every aspect of the Wenger philosophy so we really should go all in to try and make this signing a reality.
