It will surely be to tempting an opportunity for the former Man United man to turn down. The 34 year old midfield battler will be keen to aid Newcastle‘s attempt to bounce straight back up to the top tier but as he sees his side offload a great many of their squad, and set to sell even more before the transfer deadline, he may feel a move to Turf Moor is a more viable destination to finish out his career.

Mike Ashley has already sanctioned the departures of Sebastien Bassong, Obafemi Martins, Habib Beye and Damien Duff in recent weeks and the likes of Steven Taylor, Fabricio Coloccini and Jonas Gutierrez are all rumoured to be exit bound.
