Dig deep into those pockets Mr Gillett and Hicks!

Rafael van der Vaart is resigned to leaving Real Madrid, but he will only consider offers from England or Germany.

Manuel Pellegrini’s decision to leave the Dutch midfielder out of the squad for the Bernabeu Trophy appears to be the final nail in his coffin, and he is preparing for an exit.

However, speaking to FourFourTwo, Van der Vaart emphasised the he was only interested in two other leagues: the Premier League and the Bundesliga.

Admitting to interest from his native Holland, he said, “I have rejected an offer from Ajax because I want to play in a top league, such as England or Germany.

“I am not going to consider offers from teams from other countries.”

According to AS, Liverpool and Arsenal are both keen on Van der Vaart, but neither are willing to pay his €12 million asking price, with the Reds unable to, and the Gunners only ready to go up to €7m. (Goal.com)

Now if there was one way the American owners could ease concerns over the way they are running out club, it would be to give Rafa some cash to put in a bid for this man.

The fee wanted by Real Madrid is an absolute bargain!
