West Ham Close to Sealing Barcelona Star Gudjohnsen Loan Deal

WEST HAM boss Gianfranco Zola is close to agreeing a loan deal for Eidur Gudjohnsen.
The cash-strapped Hammers are in no financial position to agree a £5million permanent deal for the striker but a season-long deal is on the cards.Barcelona sources claim all that remains to be ironed out is how much the Londoners will pay towards the player’s wages. (The Sun)
It would be quite a coup for the east London side could secure the signing of the former Chelsea man in any manner, whether it be a season long loan or a permanent deal. Clearly a loan deal may be the only option available to the cash strap Hammers side but either way the Icelandic international could be a very astute acquisition.
Some people seem to think Eidur Gudjohnsen is over the hill but he is still only 30 and has been a big hit at the Camp Nou, offering an adaptable option in attack for Pepe Guardiola and has won every title possible in the three years he has been at the Spanish giants and he could well be ready for a new challenge.

Personally, I don’t rate Gudjohnson all that highly, but I reckon he could do a job at West Ham and on loan, you can’t really argue with the price.
