Wouldn’t he be better placed getting some pitch time at Anfield?

Liverpool have today confirmed Hungarian duo Krisztian Nemeth and Andras Simon will spend the 2009-10 season out on loan.
Nemeth has joined Greek side AEK Athens until the end of the campaign, while Simon will spend the term with Spanish club Cordoba CF.

The strike pair originally arrived at Anfield from MTK Hungaria in the summer of the 2007 after impressing in the previous year’s UEFA U17 Championships.

Nemeth was included in the first team’s tours of Switzerland and Asia this summer, and the 20-year-old helped himself to two goals in the 5-0 victory over Singapore last month. (Official Liverpool Website)

I have to say I was looking forward to seeing Nemeth attempting to break into the first team picture this term, after all we don’t have a whole lot of options up front and he was coming along nicely. Obviously a move to AEK Athens will do him good but it does seem a little short sighted to send the Hungarian out on loan.

At 20 he is clearly the right sort of age to give a decent shot at the senior set up, hell at a club like Arsenal he may well have already had a season or two under his belt. No doubt this deal had something to do with the deal that brought us AEK’s Greek defender Sotiris Kyrgiakos.
