League Two side seal momentous signature

Notts County are on the verge of completing the signing of former England centre-half Sol Campbell, reports BBC Radio Nottingham.
Campbell agreed to join the League Two side after further talks on Monday and the deal will be confirmed on Tuesday.
The 34-year-old, who is a free agent after leaving Portsmouth in the summer, will sign in a purely playing capacity.
He has 73 England caps and played for his country under Meadow Lane director of football Sven-Goran Eriksson.
The ex-Tottenham and Arsenal defender held “encouraging” preliminary talks with the Magpies over the weekend. If Campbell’s move goes through it would be the biggest signing for the Magpies since the club were taken over by a Middle-East consortium in July. (BBC Sport)
Well this is quite a coup. Notts County, under the guidance of Ian McParland, and not Sven Goran Ericsson, have started the season with a bang and stand at the top of the League Two summit. The signings of Lee Hughes, Karl Hawley, Kasper Schmeichel and half a dozen proven lower league players have helped the club to mount a promotion push which is far removed from last seasons battle against relegation to the Conference.
The capture of Sol Campbell will not only get the headlines but will also go a long way to adding more defensive steel to go alongside an attack that has already scored 13 goals in four games.

I think Campbell will do a job for them. Decent buy for Notts County.

I’d have thought he could still do a job in the Premiership.
Sure, he’s getting on a bit, but has bags of top-level experience.
I was kinda of hoping Everton would take him, even if he was just 4 choice cover and someone to help bring on the youngsters he’d be worth a punt?
Best of luck to him though, he’ll be the best player in the division by miles.
