£16m Robben Could be the Perfect Man United Signing
by Christian Bailey on August 26th, 2009 12 commentsGreat way to spend some of that Cristiano Cash!
Arjen Robben is just one of a highly talented pack of Dutch internationals who seemingly have no future at the Bernabeu but the former Chelsea winger could well be the best bit of business Sir Alex does this summer.
With all that spare Cristiano Ronaldo cash burning a hole in his back pocket a move for Robben would seem to be a pretty intelligent one. The left side flank man could provide the kind of ammunition that Nani could only dream about.
I personally like the Man United number 17 but he doesn’t appear to be able to mount a consistent run in the team. He had a good pre-season and had a good ten minute spell against Wigan but he’s no Ronaldo. Arjen offers different attributes to the 22 year old Portuguese International. He has pace and trickery and a good eye for goal and more importantly he has proved himself both in Spain and in England, as a player who can win matches with his magical displays.
The 25 year old Dutchman has also gone a long way to shaking the diving tag that haunted him during his stint in the Premier League and whilst the two years he has spent at the La Liga giants have been topsy turvy ones for the club, they have seen Arjen mature and blossom and I can see why Ferguson is reportedly interested in making a last ditch move for the talented flair player.

Suddenly, with one’s own club supposedly interested in him, Robben is no longer a diver!
