Aston Villa Confirm they are in Talks to Land £7m Blackburn Defender Warnock

Villa can confirm they are in discussions with Blackburn Rovers over the transfer of Stephen Warnock. (Official Aston Villa Website)
This would represent a very decent signing by Martin O’Neil but one wonders if this spells the end of Nicky Shorey’s bumpy ride at Villa Park.
Warnock has done fantastically to recover from being offloaded by Liverpool in 2007 to fight his way at Ewood Park and is now considered one of the best left backs in the Premier League and the 27 year old may feel that a move to Aston Villa could assist his chances of being recalled to the England set up by Fabio Capello.
Martin O’Neill has already invested wisely during this transfer window bringing in Habib Beye, Fabian Delph and Stewart Downing.

Fabian Delph is a championship player atm, he should be loned out so he can improve as a player. he needs to gain muscle

Not sure he’s worth £7m for what he’ll bring to the team, but at this point I’m just glad O’Neill’s strengthening the squad.

I know its a bit much for steve warnock but still ,we need to get a few more ,its the reason we are not playing champions league this year

I dont know how he values Warnock at £10million? But Allardyce, who has already played hard-ball with City over striker Roque Santa Cruz to secure an £18million transfer fee. £7Million is ok. I get the feeling being a villa fan Martin is out to prove to the FA he doesnt need the England job cause he’s gonna make hes own little England teanm at Villa Park. Thats prob a reason why Warnock wants to come to Villa Park maybe….just maybe he will get a recall to the England Squad…
