Learning his trade.
Queens Park Rangers have beaten off competition from three Premier League clubs to land 20-year-old Jay Simpson from Arsenal, on a season long loan deal.
“Jay is a fine young player, who will prove to be a quality addition to the squad,” said Rangers boss Jim Magilton.
“He’s already shown glimpses of his quality at Arsenal and during loan spells elsewhere and we’ll be looking for him to continue his progression under our guidance.
“There’s no doubt he’s got all the attributes to be a top, top player, but he needs games and we’re delighted we’ve been given the opportunity by Arsenal to provide him with a platform to showcase his ability.” (Sky Sports)
Jay looks a pretty decent prospect who unfortunately is getting a little lost amongst the talent coming through at the club. He had a great spell at Millwall a couple of years back and followed that with an up and down time at West Brom last term.
The 20 year old striker is in danger of slipping through the net in some ways and I wouldn’t be surprised if he considers his options at the end of this season long loan and perhaps comes to the conclusion his future may lie away from the Emirates.
He is a good effective direct player who I have thought works better out on the wing rather than as a striker and hopefully he will have a good spell at Loftus Road.
