Tough decision?

Football - Newcastle United Training

Bolton boss Gary Megson has confirmed that the club has approached Newcastle in a bid to re-sign Kevin Nolan.

Nolan left the Reebok Stadium for £4million in January but was unable to help the Magpies avoid relegation from the Premier League last season, and his former employers are keen to bring him back to the top flight.

The 27-year-old was a fans favourite at Bolton, and Megson admitted that he had been reluctant to let him move to St. James’ Park.

“I didn’t particularly want him to go in the first place,” he said.

“It’s just an enquiry, we’ve asked someone to find out if Newcastle would be interested in loaning Kevin back to the football club and we haven’t had a response as yet. (Sky Sports)

Would Kevin Nolan really jump ship and return to the Reebok? I am not sure he would to be honest. He is obviously something of a hero at Bolton after giving the club a decade of good service but he seems to have settled at St James’ Park and has been in good form as the Toon Army search for an immediate return to the Premier League.

If Mike Ashley continues to cash in on his squad the chances of a bounce back are going to get thinner and thinner. This summer Newcastle United have already offloaded Habib Beye, Sebastien Bassong, Damien Duff, Obafemi Martins and obviously didn’t renew Michael Owen’s contract and could well lose Steven Taylor to boot.

My money is on the scouser staying.
