Bolton Make Move for £4m Newcastle Midfielder Nolan: Surely He’ll Say No

Bolton boss Gary Megson has confirmed that the club has approached Newcastle in a bid to re-sign Kevin Nolan.
Nolan left the Reebok Stadium for £4million in January but was unable to help the Magpies avoid relegation from the Premier League last season, and his former employers are keen to bring him back to the top flight.
The 27-year-old was a fans favourite at Bolton, and Megson admitted that he had been reluctant to let him move to St. James’ Park.
“I didn’t particularly want him to go in the first place,” he said.
“It’s just an enquiry, we’ve asked someone to find out if Newcastle would be interested in loaning Kevin back to the football club and we haven’t had a response as yet. (Sky Sports)
Would Kevin Nolan really jump ship and return to the Reebok? I am not sure he would to be honest. He is obviously something of a hero at Bolton after giving the club a decade of good service but he seems to have settled at St James’ Park and has been in good form as the Toon Army search for an immediate return to the Premier League.
If Mike Ashley continues to cash in on his squad the chances of a bounce back are going to get thinner and thinner. This summer Newcastle United have already offloaded Habib Beye, Sebastien Bassong, Damien Duff, Obafemi Martins and obviously didn’t renew Michael Owen’s contract and could well lose Steven Taylor to boot.
My money is on the scouser staying.

He’s not wanted back at the Reebok, Bolton have signed two players to replace him since he left and Nolan offers nothing in terms of goals, pace, mobility or passing- the problem areas.

If Newcastle receive an acceptable offer from Bolton then Kevin will have no choice if the club decide they want to unload him because of his wages.

I really can’t believe Bolton fans. Megson is doing a great job. Bolton are a second tier club at most. They are the reason clubs like Newcaslte, Leeds and Southampton are no longer in the Premierleague.
They play the cheating style of football that has spread to many clubs in the league, causing good attacking teams to fall.

Not sure he’ll go – he’d have to take a pay-cut to go to Bolton most likely! Though I am surprised Big Sam hasn’t stormed in to sign him for Blackburn yet.

I hope the overweight waster stays in Newcastle.

Megson is a sad tosser, who knows what he’s up to. Nolan is a great player for the situation we find ourselves in now.
He’s been pure heart and guts in our games so far – a player we need this season

Local forum result 92% do not want him back & I’m not surprised!
He has been useless for years. Megson is doing this to spite Bolton fans.
