Maybe if we all cross our fingers, it may come true?
Real Madrid midfielder Rafael Van Der Vaart is expected to move to the Premiership before Tuesday’s transfer deadline.
Despite the sales of Arjen Robben (Bayern Munich) and Wesley Sneijder (Inter Milan), Real also want to clear Van der Vaart off their books.
Marca says Liverpool and Arsenal have shown keen interest in the midfield schemer. (Marca)
Of course it’s just a beautiful unlikely dream but now that Real Madrid have offloaded Wesley Sneijder and Arjen Robben, there is still one Dutchman who still tickles Liverpool‘s fancy, If only Hicks and Gillett would get some of their small change together and give Rafa the cash for a signing that would help us no end.
Remember Van der Vaart was far worse off than Arjen and Wesley as he hasn’t even been given a squad number at the Bernabeu and simply has no future at the club. Hence reports that a fee as small as £11m could snare the former Ajax man.
The signing of an attacking midfielder would greatly aid our cause and whilst it is clearly just a pipe dream Rafael is definitely a player that Rafa has attempted to secure in recent weeks. Well we have a few more days and a lot could happen and perhaps even though Christian Purslow said he wasn’t expecting new arrivals, we may just be dealt a nice surprise!
