Arsenal Linked With Yet Another “New Messi” & Other Fairytales
by Alan Smith's Forehead on August 30th, 2009 7 commentsA defeat yes, but nothing to get too worried about.
A nugget from a source as unreliable as just about any other!
ARSENE WENGER is lining up a move for 15-year-old Serbian starlet Veljko Batrovic, likened by many to Lionel Messi.
The FK Bubamara teenager impressed the Arsenal boss during trials.
He has also attracted substantial bids from AC Milan, Marseilles, Atletico Madrid and Olympiakos but all were rejected.
Arsenal have jumped ahead of others because Wenger, Batrovic and newly-appointed Emirates scout Christian Karembeu all share the same agent, Milan Calasan.
Calasan said: “One thing is certain whether the player goes with Wenger or not, he will become a great player.” (News of the World)
So does ‘likened by many’ essentially mean the players family, his agent and the creator of this bit of fiction? Hell I know we like to make moves for starlets but surely they can’t all be the ‘next Messi/Ronaldo/Cesc!’. Anyway, on the transfer front I don’t think we will bring anyone else in and to be fair I don’t think we need to either.
We have been doing just fine with what we currently have in the squad thank you very much. Yes we could possibly do with another striker but hopefully Eduardo and RVP will steer clear of injuries. Now yesterday’s Man United game was one that infuriated me, we should have got something from the game, and I don’t just say that as a hugely biased Gooner but we really should have.
What the hell was Diaby doing? I guess he was trying to beat the crossbar with his clearing header but to aliens watching from another planet it may have seemed that he was a striker executing a fantastic finish. Darren Fletcher is possibly one of the dirtiest players around, and how he didn’t get a caution, or indeed two, is beyond me. With the likes of Scholes and Rooney you know what to expect, the usual late lunge made simply out of desire and misplaced aggression, however the Scottish midfielder is an altogether more sneaky culprit who doesn’t get nearly enough abuse for his niggly little tackles/fouls.
Talking of Rooney and ‘that’ incident. Clearly he was falling to the ground long before any contact was made but Almunia would have sent him flying anyway, so I have to wonder why our keeper rushed out as he did.
Which leads us to the Eduardo situation. Look it’s clear Boruc and Celtic shouldn’t have had a penalty awarded against them, hell maybe our Cro-zillian even deserved a yellow for the ‘dive’ but if we are going to start banning players every time they dive, and I am more than happy for this to happen, then it better happen every damn time or some are going to fall foul to questions of bias again.
Anyway we lost. It’s not the end of the world. It wasn’t a bad performance from the lads so even though the scoreline wasn’t a good one I think we came out of the game with some dignity and some positives.

Well, just one weed is more than enough for the whole crop.Wenger did bad by including Diaby and Eboue. Both Merida and Ramsey were benched.

if you are going to ban players for diving you have to admit eboue would be banned for ages for that awful attempted dive yesterday

Seriously man u were lucky all three of our mid playmakers are injured, so the game turned into a match of fouling attrition in which fletcher was king.
But yeh how many messis are there?

im dubious about te fact that everyone wants patrick viera. yes hes a legend in arsenal.
he will have a psychological impact on the team rather than filling up the void in the DM position when Song is injured. i really doubt he can endure the competitiveness of premierleague at his age.
man, seriously, wenger, are you fucking shitting me!
im actually glad we lost to man u – its as if someone has just slapped wengers balls and woke him up. WAKE UP MR W. MR W. by himself hes so impressseeddd he got Ds muh fucka Dsss Rosie Perezz. sorry i was rapping Kanye’s Good Morning. anyway.
yes fucking wake up wenger. this year is the greatest chance since the departure of the diving king – c ronaldo. his dives make up 29 out of the 30 goals he scored last season.
so fucking WAKE UP WENGER
I HOPE U READ THIS
if you dont get anyone. in a fuckign economic point of view (ur a economist, you should know this), the sustainability of arsenal will actually be in DANGER because of the loss of long-term support from fans. this will have a domino effect. Results will drop –> Fabregas will leave –> results drop again –> supporters support tottenham instead –> eventually wenger will lose his job–> then boom FUCK the gunners are mother fucking over like newcastle and leeds.
very llogical indeed.. thus the only solution is to BUY now, not the development of shitty players like diaby.
hoping diaby to become viera one day is like buying a lottery ticket and hoping to win the first prize. odds are against us.
FUCK FUCK this is pissing me off. FUCK MAN U FUCK the arsneal policy
we need CHANGE to the policy YES WE CAN FUCKERS.

The game showed Arsenal a few things about winning this year;
a. ManU and any of the other top 3, when playing at home, will get referee decisions that favour them rather than their opponents 75% of the time. so we can expect some ” good luck” at the Emirates this year.
b. ManU and the other top 3 are entirely vulnerable defensively so if Arsenal can maintain their excellent defensive success so far (excluding own goals) and finally get their attackers to score on 50% of the chances they create each game,
c) and they can keep their key players healthy for at least 30 games over the entire season,
There is no reason they can’t expect to end up one of the top 2. Tottenham look to be the fastest out of the gate, along with Chelsea so far but every one of them have defensive weaknesses that a well prepared and mentally tough Arsenal can profit from. Manchester City are depending on Adebayor to win games for them and while their midfield is brillant, their defenders and keeper are less than stellar so they are very vulnerbale from their 30 metre area on in.
I believe Liverpool will come the farthest and recuperate the most ground up to the winter break and if Arsenal can take at least 8 points from them, they can do well. Yesterday they dominated the game for long periods and should have finished United off before the first half so I am sure Wenger will work on their goal area effectiveness both defensively and offensively.
