Is it me or is Phil Brown trying to generate interest in his own player?

Hull City boss Phil Brown admits the club may have to listen to any ’silly bids’ for Michael Turner before the close of the transfer window.

Turner has been strongly linked with a move away from the KC Stadium throughout the summer, with Liverpool reportedly offering £6million for the centre-half.

The Tigers are understood to value Turner at double that amount, with Sunderland the latest club to have an expressed an interest.

“Everyone seems to be wanting to talk about Michael Turner,” said Brown. “Let’s talk about him. He had an outstanding game. He has been tested by the two boys up front (Kevin Doyle and Andy Keogh) and stood up to the test.

“Is that his last game? I don’t know. It might be. It might not be. When people start talking silly money, sometimes you have to listen.

“We are in the year of the silly money, the silly bids. The world has gone crazy, paying £25million for centre-halves, so maybe you have to listen. (Sky Sports)

Phil Brown appears to be doing his best to drum up interest in Michael Turner, but why? Clearly his ability to bring up the subject of his centre back’s future at any given opportunity smacks of some sort of desire to cash in on the 25 year old, otherwise why keep talking about it? If he has no interest in selling then he should just make that clear and move on.

Yes, the former Charlton and Brentford man had a good season last term but he is not worth all the attention he is getting and if the Tigers boss thinks we are the most likely to stump up ’silly money’ then he is mistaken.

Having just purchased Kyrgiakos and with Ayala coming along nicely a move for the Londoner would be a foolish one and one we luckily could not afford. Sorry Phil, however hard you try, he’s not going anywhere!
