Good News: Newcastle United’s Steven Taylor Has No Intention Of Leaving
by Christian Bailey on August 30th, 2009 4 commentsLoyalty is not dead!
Steven Taylor insists he has no intention of leaving Newcastle United and says he has not been contacted by other clubs.
Following Newcastle’s relegation from the Premier League at the end of last season, a mass exodus has taken place at St James’ Park.
Taylor has also been linked with a move away from the Magpies, with Everton reported to have expressed an interest in the defender.
Newcastle caretaker boss Chris Hughtonrevealed earlier in the week that there had been no bids for Taylor, who is also unaware of any interest.
And Taylor is not concerned by the speculation about his future as he has pledged to stay with the Magpies for the long term.
“I’m going nowhere. I’m a Geordie and this is my club,” Taylor told The People. “This is where I want to be.
“I’ve heard all the talk about me leaving in the past couple of weeks, but no-one has contacted either me or my representatives and that suits me down to the ground. (Sky Sports)
The Toon Army faithful deserve some good news and this is surely something that will greatly cheer them up. Steven Taylor has always struck me as a player who really does have a great deal of passion for the club and he has been the subject of constant speculation regarding moves to a host of Premier League clubs.
The likes of Everton, Aston Villa, Arsenal and Liverpool have all been reportedly interested in the 23 year old centre back and he would have been very easy for him to turn his back on the club, like some others already have done, and it is really good to see a youngster acting in such a loyal fashion.
However will Mike Ashley still attempt to cash in on Taylor regardless of what the player has said? I wouldn’t put it past him!

He’s said this from the beginning, but you have to wonder just how strong to his principles he is if a Premiership side do decide to go in for him.

He’s ruining his career, if a team in the top ten of the premier league are interested in you (Everton, Aston Villa, Arsenal, Liverpool) you do not say no. If I was him and was rotting away at Newcastle then one of the above became interested in me I’d know where I’d rather go.

Taylor was a Magpie fan long before he even started playing. He can at least go for a loan to Arsenal for a season or two until scenario changes a bit.
