Fingers crossed he never comes back!
The protracted departure of Charles Itandje from Liverpool could be nearing its conclusion after reports in France claim the goalkeeper is set to join Greek outfit AO Kavala.
Itandje is currently the Reds’ fourth-choice stopper and is much disliked at Anfield following inappropriate behaviour earlier this year at a memorial service for the victims of the Hillsborough disaster.
Having seen a move to Kavala’s league rivals Panionios collapse as well as a proposed loan switch to Sporting Gijon, Itandje appears to be headed for Greece despite claims that AS Roma had approached Rafael Benitez about a move for the 26-year-old. (Click Liverpool)
Some sources quoted this as a done deal but best to err on the side of caution with this one. Some sources say that the French keeper is heading for newly promoted top tier Greek side Kavala, a side I have never heard of previously.
It appears the goalie is set for a year long spell that will hopefully result in him never coming back. I still get angry just thinking of the way he behaved at the Hillsborough Memorial and why we haven’t managed to just release him from his contract is beyond me. Surely the financially repercussions of simply cancelling his deal wouldn’t have been that high, would they?
Anyway as well as being a disgrace off the pitch he is also a liability on it and I can only hope that he does enough to impress the Greek club so that he never comes back to Anfield again!
