Redknapp moves nearer to midfield capture.
Sky Sports Sources understand Tottenham are closing in on the signing of Portsmouth star Niko Kranjcar.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has lined up a move for Kranjcar as a replacement for injured Croatian compatriot Luka Modric.
Modric faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a broken leg against Birmingham on Saturday and Redknapp has moved quickly to fill the void by targeting Kranjcar.
Kranjcar’s future has been the subject of constant speculation all summer with the player unhappy about the number of big-name departures at Fratton Park. (Sky Sports)
Sky have correctly predicted a number of deals today that have indeed been completed and now they are confidently stating that Harry Redknapp is closing in on a player he brought to Portsmouth back when he was in charge at Fratton Park.
With Luka Modric sidelined and the club looking for more creative options in the midfield a move for the Croatian was always on the cards. Having already taken Peter Crouch and Jermain Defoe from his former club Redknapp clearly has his eyes on another of those players he nurtured during his successful spell at Fratton Park.
