Would John Terry have Left Chelsea If He Wasn’t Given £150k a Week Deal?

Chelsea captain John Terry has signed a new five-year contract which is reported to be worth £150,000 per week.
The defender was the subject of much transfer speculation in the summer, with suggestions of a £40m bid from Manchester City for the 28-year-old.
A statement on the official Chelsea website stated the club was “delighted” that Terry had signed the new deal.
It added that the move reaffirms the England skipper’s desire to end his career at Stamford Bridge. (BBC Sport)
For quite some time this summer many believed that John Terry may well leave the club he has represented since he was 14 and the player did nothing to allay any concerns of a potential move until the 11th hour when he pledged his loyalty to the club, but did he only do so once he was offered this lucrative new deal?
Initially the one club man had reportedly annoyed that he wasn’t given the full picture as to what was going on by the club and that further fueled speculation that he may decide to leave, but did anyone really think he would actually make such move?
Given the years of good service it was perhaps unfair for some to believe the England skipper would consider making a money spinning move to Man City, where no doubt he would have been offered an even more obscene amount of cash, but is it fair to assume he may well have used the speculation and the real interest shown by Mark Hughes,to help get himself a better wage, and if so, is that such a bad thing?

Same thing Steven Gerrard did to Liverpool. Loyalty doesn’t exist in football. How much is enough for all these footballers.
Expect a hike in season ticket prices soon. : (

I ahvn’t been to a game in over four years because of ticket prices and players extortionate wages. I don’t understand people who pay, mugs.

how can you call yourself the kop king if you haven’t been to a game in 4 years?

Would he have left if not offered the new deal?
Stupid question. One could as easily ask if he would have left five years ago if he wasn’t offered the terms he was on then.
All that matters is he chose to stay on terms that the club decided he is worth to them.

Listen you little snot i have been to over a thousand games so i don’t need some little up start questioning my pedigree. As i said i wouldnt contribute to players wages anymore as not only are they over paid but their ego’s are also over inflated.

No. Why should he deny something he already said he wouldn’t ever do in February/
As well, I think you’ll find that ST prices went down this season after being held steady for the last 5 seasons. FA Cup, League Cup and CL Group game prices have also gone down in the last 5 years.

Terry’s plan was to delay so as to get the best possible deal for himself, centre halves come a dime a dozen and are not an important part of the modern game

I dont believ terry would have left us unless City offered some ridiculus £1million a week deal or something.
He played the situation well though and cant blame him – other clubs were interested and he took advantage of a situation to get himself a better deal.
